Zip Conferencing

I guess the middle of the summer was not a good time to elicit essays from college students. We have received several good essays but again even when we consider the ones submitted in the previous round there are simply not enough entries to award the scholarship.

We thank everyone for your efforts. We are going to suspend the scholarship program for now until we can determine a way forward.

Thank you to all of the students who submitted essay entries for the Zip Conferencing scholarship. We have received a number of excellent entries. Unfortunately, however, we have not received the minimum number of qualified entries necessary to award the scholarship.

What we will do is consider the entries we have received for the scholarship to be awarded on July 15th and invite new participants to submit entries so that we can get the number of submissions necessary.

Zip Conferencing is proud to support young people pursuing a career in communications, marketing and business and will continue the scholarship program. Entries for the $2,500 scholarship will be accepted starting today with a deadline of June 30, 2016. The winner will be selected on July 15th.

The Zip Conferencing Scholarship has been awarded to Rebecca Morosoff who is attending the Fashion Institute of Technology, a State University of New York college of art, business, design, mass communication and technology. Her essay succinctly captured the impact of new communication technologies on her and the world around her. And her vision to create a conversation as a community connected by these technologies is both positive and visionary.

We also want to thank all of the students who submitted entries. There were a number of thoughtful essays submitted and it is apparent that this generation is aware of the positive and potentially distracting power of the communications technologies around them.
