We would like to remind you to stay vigilant when browsing and shopping online during this holiday season. Please be aware of the following types of scams:
-unexpected requests from colleagues, superiors, or executives to purchase gift or stored value cards on their behalf
-e-cards, unexpected “gifts,” and job offers (“secret shopper”) from unknown or faked senders may contain links that lead to malware or scams
-fake advertisements, coupons, or shipping notifications may include infected attachments and/or contain links that lead to malware
phishing email messages and fraudulent posts on social networking sites may request support for phony causes or offer “too good to be true” deals on merchandise
-copycat and fake websites that pose as legitimate ones to capture personal and financial information
security or “fix or tune up your PC” software offered as an unexpected pop-up ad.
These scams could result in significant theft or financial loss. If it looks too good to be true, it probably is.
