Americans aged 60 and older are among the primary targets for fraudsters. According to the FBI:
"Americans aged 60 and older are primary targets for fraudsters, with estimates showing that 1 in 10 seniors falls victim to fraud or identity theft each year. In recent years, older adults have reported over 100,000 fraud complaints annually, resulting in staggering financial losses exceeding $3.4 billion to $5 billion."
In addition, an AARP survey found that 41% of adults over age 50 have experienced fraud, identity theft, or the theft of sensitive personal information.
