I took this picture of T.A. Moulton barn last week while Kristy and I were in Wyoming. This morning I’m looking at the “most photographed barn in the world” and reflecting. The barn was built somewhere around 90-105 years ago and I’m wondering - What am I doing that will matter 100 years from now? I’m also asking if the things I worry about will matter 100 years from now? “This too shall pass” doesn’t just apply to the struggles, it also applies to the best parts of this life. I hope I can make it count.

Started another Inside Out (High School) group last night. One huge difference this go round. My shorty jumped in this time to lead a group of young women. So excited! If you ever ask yourself “is this really all there is to life?”. The answer is “Nope”! The next generation needs us.... And we need them too.

June 6th 1944. Allied forces took back Normandy! Whatever we GET to do today was fought for, and won, by those who did what they HAD to do that day! Shout out today to all those who fought, and still fight, for freedom! Especially my nephew who’s on deployment. So proud of him!

🔴Know Yo Flo?🔴 How are you thinking?

How often do you ask someone “what are you thinking?”. It’s a good question.

But a question that’ll change yo game is:

✅ “How am I thinking?” or better yet “How DO I think?”.

I’m working on my “thinking process” now. Here’s what I have so far.

Step 1️⃣: I ask
“What’s the biggest obstacle I’m facing right now that will have an exponential impact on my life when I overcome it?”

Once I have that answer I move to the next step.

Step #2️⃣: Define the obstacle. An obstacle, well defined, is 80% overcome!

This is where I get super clear on paper (or in evernote) exactly what the particular problem is.

When I don’t do this I often solve the wrong problem, or only come up with a solution to part of the bigger issue.

Step #3️⃣: Get in my car and drive.

This is how I get into what I call “Flow”.

There’s something about windshield time that occupies my mind enough to not be distracted, but allows me enough attention to the problem to be in “Flow”.

Others places I flow: In the shower (So cliche) and on long hikes.

Step #4️⃣ I capture ideas while driving on a voice recorder. (ideas are fleeting so capture them quick, and in a way that you can’t lose them).

Thinking Hack
I use rev.com’s app on my iphone. When I record, I toggle the pause/record button so I keep the audio very short by only recording when I have a thought.

The rev.com app also lets you press a button to have them transcribe you’re audio for $1 per minute. I just did 90 mins of windshield time and the audio is only 4 minutes.

Step # 5️⃣: Determine an action plan and calendar it.

Great ideas are only great when they make their way out into your world.

Whatever obstacle(s) you’re facing right now I promise the solution is inside you’re thinking process just waiting to be discovered.

God loves surprising his kids with pure Joy! Rascal was my quiet time buddy. (pic 1) When I’d sit down in my QT chair he’d hop in my lap. He didn’t even mind if I put my big font Bible on him while I read. That time w the Lord, and Rascal, is the thing I miss most about him since he passed last year. But Maggie has continued his legacy. (pink collar pup). Even though she’s completely different, she literally acts the same way Rascal did in those QT moments. Here’s what I’m learning from this. When your consistent people, and puppies, know they can count on you to be where you’re supposed to be and they’ll meet you there. 2nd: God really loves to catch us off guard with a joy surprise. All you have to do is pay attention and you’ll see what I mean. Find someone that brings you joy...and tell them today! @ Forsyth County, Georgia
