Symptoms of a Hijack include annoying popups that tell you you are infected and urge you to buy their products to remove them, redirecting your home page, changing your wallpaper and more. Viruses are written with many intentions, so there isn't one specific indicator that you are infected, but if you have an Antivirus program, it may be warning you that you have an infection. Are you using technology to the fullest potential at work and home? Just because "it works" doesn't necessarily mean it's the best or most efficient way. Everyday there are big advances in technology and it pays to check these out. Sometimes, something as simple as having some background music while you work can make you more efficient and improve your mood. Use Siri, Alexa or Google Home to get quick answers to your questions without stopping your current workflow. Check for new, better software to improve your current processes. What used to take 2 hours in Photoshop can now be done with a smartphone in 3 minutes with the right apps. If you're not sure how to get started, give us a call.

Sure, you take lots of photos with that smartphone, but then how do you ever find the one's you wanted to show someone from several months back? SEARCH. Yes, these smartphones are possibly smarter than you think. Did you know you can search your photos in your phone for things like "car" or "spider" or "John".
Many smartphones these days have picture recognition and will do a descent job of finding some or even all of the photos you are looking for using a keyword. Look for the search option in your smartphone's photo app and try it out. We were pleasantly surprised.

You better back up! If you're running a Windows 10 computer, then you had better back up your files right away! Microsoft is releasing the latest major updates to Windows 10 and even though it has been recalled two times, there are known issues with people losing files after the upgrade. Don't be one of the unlucky people if you receive the upgrade and it still isn't fixed, make a backup of your files now! Hopefully, Microsoft will resolve this issue, but don't take the risk. More info can be found clicking the button. You can find out more information on our website about backups under the Services section and scroll down to the heading for Backups.

Scams on the rise! Many of us in this industry often hear about these scams, but often it's after-the-fact. I encourage all of my clients to call me when in doubt of a potential scam. Email scams are getting more clever and scary. Phone scams are still on the rise and seem to be very convincing. The best advise is that Microsoft, Dell, Google, Apple, and many others won't call you out of the blue to let you know you have a problem. In fact, it's usually very hard to get in touch with these companies. Don't be fooled by these crooks and when in doubt, call your friendly neighborhood computer repair folks and verify with them if it's legit or not. Don't wait until it's too late!

Keep it clean folks! Something many people don't think about, or maybe are uncomfortable with the task, is cleaning out the inside of your computer or laptop. A dirty computer can cause slowness, or in extreme cases it can burn up components inside your computer. Laptop users, this is easy. Just get a can of air and with the computer turned off, blow out from the bottom where there are air vents and in many cases from the side(s) as well. Blow it out well until there is no more dust. Desktop users will need to open the side or top cover. Sometimes it's a bit more difficult, but it definitely needs to be done. Let us know if we can help. Call Today!

Many of my posts have been about backups. This is because there are so many reasons to backup your data. In the past few weeks, we've seen people lose all of their data due to Ransomware, corrupted hard drives, bad hardware, and even software updates. You should always think this: "I'm okay losing all of my data that I haven't backed up so far." and hopefully, this is just a little bit of data. If you don't have any backups, you'll likely regret losing all of your pictures, documents, and business files. Don't take the risk! Check it out the link for a cheap, easy backup system.

We've partnered with Carbonite to keep businesses running smoothly. Whether it's computer protection, server backup or both, you can easily find the solution that meets your needs.

iPhone users - check this out. If you didn't already know about the mouse-like feature, you need to read this! If you are typing a message, email, etc and you have a mistake half-way through, you can hold down the spacebar for a few seconds and you'll be able to move your cursor freely throughout the text. This is my new favorite tool!

We often get the question, "How long should my computer last?" or "When do I replace my computer?" While there are a lot of factors that play into the answer, the standard response is 3 to 5 years. In many cases, you won't notice your computer slowing down because it happens slowly over time. But you could be losing valuable productivity and not knowing it. How old is your computer?
