September is National Campus Safety Awareness Month.

Creating safer schools means giving students, teachers and staff simple ways to get help, report concerns and communicate during an emergency.

SaferWatch helps schools strengthen safety with panic buttons, anonymous tip reporting, mass notifications, real-time communication and direct connections to public safety — helping critical information reach the right people when every second matters.

This month, we’re proud to join the nationwide conversation around building safer, more prepared school communities.

SaferWatch is proud to announce a new partnership with Punch Rescue, expanding the ways organizations can connect wearable panic button technology with public safety and emergency response workflows.

By bringing our platforms together, critical emergency information can move more efficiently from activation to the people responsible for response—helping support faster, more coordinated action when every second matters.

This partnership reflects a shared commitment to interoperability and giving organizations more flexibility to build a safety ecosystem around the technologies they already use.

Executive protection doesn’t end when someone leaves the office.

Executives, judges, elected officials and other high-profile individuals are constantly moving between meetings, events, airports, hotels and public spaces. That changes what protection needs to look like.

In our latest blog, we look at how GPS-connected panic technology, real-time location awareness and 24/7 response are becoming an important part of modern executive protection strategies.

SaferWatch has been awarded Humble ISD’s RFP 2023-103-11 for School Safety Products and Services, creating a new procurement path for school districts across Texas.

Through Humble ISD’s participation in the Central Texas Purchasing Alliance (CTPA), eligible member districts may be able to leverage the awarded contract to streamline the purchasing process for SaferWatch school safety technology.

For districts evaluating panic alerting, emergency communication, anonymous tip reporting, real-time location intelligence and integrated response tools, this award can help reduce procurement barriers and accelerate access to the technology they need.

We’re proud to continue expanding opportunities for Texas schools to build safer, more connected learning environments.

Utah schools: your HB 84 panic alert funding request is due September 18.

Join us Wednesday, August 26 at 1 PM MT for a live webinar for Utah districts, charter schools, and safety teams.

Utah's Alyssa's Law (H.B. 84) requires a wearable panic alert device for every lead teacher — and state funding is available to cover it.

We'll cover:
→ What H.B. 84 requires
→ How to claim state funding before the Sept. 18 deadline
→ Protection on and off campus — classrooms, buses, field trips, the walk home
→ A live look at SaferWatch

SaferWatch is available through Carahsoft, an approved USBE cooperative contract — so districts can move fast.

With Alyssa’s Law now signed in Illinois, the focus turns to what effective implementation looks like.

A panic alert should do more than signal an emergency. It should quickly connect schools with 911 centers and first responders while providing the location, mapping and critical information needed to act.

SaferWatch has been helping build that connected model for years, supporting 6,000+ locations and more than 250 public safety agencies nationwide.

As Lori Alhadeff, Co-Founder & CEO of Make Our Schools Safe, said: “In an emergency, every second matters—Time = Life®.”

As Alyssa’s Law continues to expand across the country, we remain focused on helping schools move beyond compliance toward faster, more connected emergency response.

Alyssa’s Law is about more than legislation. It is about a mother’s promise that her daughter’s life would continue to make a difference.

With Governor JB Pritzker’s signature, Alyssa’s Law is now law in Illinois — another state carrying forward the name and legacy of Alyssa Alhadeff, who was just 14 years old when she was killed at Marjory Stoneman Douglas High School in 2018.

In the years since, Lori Alhadeff has transformed unimaginable loss into a national movement for safer schools. Through Make Our Schools Safe, she has traveled state by state, meeting with lawmakers, educators, first responders and communities to advocate for one fundamental principle: when a life-threatening emergency happens at a school, there should be no unnecessary delay in getting help where it is needed.

Illinois is the latest example of what can happen when advocacy becomes action.

Thank you to Governor Pritzker for signing Alyssa’s Law and helping move this important work forward. And most importantly, thank you to Lori and everyone at Make Our Schools Safe who continue doing this work in Alyssa’s name.

Every state that passes Alyssa’s Law ensures that Alyssa’s story is not simply remembered — it continues to protect others.

That is a legacy with the power to change school safety across America.

Swatting threats are creating new challenges for schools and first responders.

Even when a threat is a hoax, it must be treated seriously until responders know what is actually happening. That makes real-time information, accurate location data and connected communication more important than ever.

Illinois has officially signed Alyssa’s Law, marking an important step forward for school emergency response.

HB 5107 goes beyond panic buttons, highlighting the importance of 911 connectivity, interoperability, reliable communication, testing and coordination with first responders.

The bigger question for schools isn’t simply, “Do we have a panic button?” It’s what happens after it’s pressed.

As Illinois develops its Alyssa’s Alert standards, now is the time for schools to evaluate how quickly their people, technology and first responders can work together during an emergency.
