Day One of the NGAUS Conference at the Indianapolis Convention Center. National Guard units from all over the country are here to see the latest in defense and emergency response technology. CCS is here with our friends from Pepwave, Fireco Masts, Zumro Air Shelters, AT&T FirstNet, and IP Access International. We are fortunate to be displaying a new MERC-LITE communications trailer with Zumro Shelter that has been purchased by the National Guard to serve as the protype for the new JISCCb deployment package. We also have the new AT&T FirstNet Mobile Connectivity HUB on display which serves as a mobile FirstNet cell site that can be deployed anywhere in the US to provide FirstNet Band 14 cell service. More info to follow over the next few days.

I have been working with the Texas First Responder Community basically since 1987, first with my 21 years with AT&T and now 20 years with CCS. After 41 years of deploying during a disaster response, attending one of the many State COMEX exercises over the years, and just working with our customers you become very familar with not only the people but even some of the equipment. A great example of this is the large mobile command center Denton County Texas Office of Emergency Management has had for years that everyone knows as "Goliath". Goliath is a beast and one of the larger command centers in the area. CCS did not manufacture it, but it has been around so long that we have done not one - but two technology refreshes (upgrades) on it for the County. Command Centers typically do not get many miles put on them because most of them serve a fairly small geographic area and hopefully they are not deployed that often - so the trucks last for a really long time if properly maintained. With the continuing updates and new communication products being developed at a faster pace than ever, it is important to make sure the technology in the units is up to date.

CCS Technicians just completed a big upgrade for the County on Goliath to get it to current emergency response standards. A new Kymeta U8 LEO satellite was installed with a Dejero 6 SIM gateway to make sure the unit was getting as robust a network connection as possible. A JPS ACU was installed and connected to the Motorola radio system in the command center to provide easy radio interoperability. All new HD LED monitors were installed with a new CCS video management system which provides greater flexibility for sharing video feeds, spreading one image across multiple monitors for a larger viewing experience, and splitting a single screen into multiple video feeds. A Verkada camera system was installed to provide video surviellance and situational awareness around the command center. All data cabling was cleaned up, labeled, and new wiring ran. LED lighting was added to the rack area and to the work space area for improved working conditions. The conference room table was replaced with a new table top and was equipped with multiple power and data connections. New work station monitors were installed and a lot of old equipment was removed.

Really enjoyed working with Robert Pignatelli at the County and his team as we made these improvements for them. Robert and his team are very knowledgeable and all of this work was done at their request and direction. The unit is back in Denton ready to be deployed when needed!

Comprehensive Communication Services (CCS) is excited to be attending the 148th General Conference & Exhibition of the National Guard Association of the United States (NGAUS) in Indianapolis, Indiana from August 28–31, 2026, with pre-conference activities starting August 27. The annual business meeting and trade show bring together over 4,000 defense leaders, officers, and industry representatives. Our primary focus for attending this show is in support of all the National Guard Units CCS is lucky to count as customers who utilize our MERC mobile command centers. This includes Guard units from New York, Puerto Rico, Mississippi, Louisiana, Wisconsin, Ohio, Kentucky, and of course our home State of Texas.

We are especially proud this year to be displaying a new MERC-LITE tactical command center that was purchased by the NAWCAD-WOLF Team that is serving as the prototype for the new JISCCb5 trailer package. Earlier this year we provided this team with a MERC-LITE as a bailment unit for proof of concept and it passed with rave reviews. For those of you not familiar with JISCC, the Joint Incident Site Communications Capability (JISCC) is a mobile, deployable communications package used by the National Guard and civil authorities during domestic disasters and emergencies. It can be towed or airlifted to an incident site to quickly provide vital voice, data, video, and radio cross-agency connections.
Although the MERC-LITE has never been deployed as an official part of the JISCC package, multiple Guard units have purchased them with their own funding to assist in the rapid deployment of mobile communication assets and to provide an easy to deploy Zumro Air Shelter for on-site climate-controlled workspace. CCS has also worked with US SouthComm to deploy dozens of MERC-LITEs in Central and South America including units in Chile, Argentina, Paraguay, Peru, Dominican Republic, Panama, Guatemala, and Honduras. CCS just recently returned from a trip to the Dominican Republic to train their military on a new MERC-LITE they recently purchased to add to their existing fleet of MERC-LITEs.

Please visit us at Booth 1951 at the NGAUS Show later this month! For more information just email us at [email protected] .

Our friends at AT&T FirstNet are attending the APCO Conference in San Antonio this week and the new AT&T FirstNet Mobile Connectivity HUB (FMCH) is on full display. The FMCH is a mobile AT&T FirstNet cell site that slides into the receiver on most standard vehicles and is transported similar to a cargo carrier. It uses a LEO satellite backhaul to connect to the AT&T FirstNet network and then rebroadcasts the FirstNet signal out locally utilizing on board radios. It is powered by a portable generator with an extended run fuel tank and includes a 20 foot Fireco mast equipped with a Galtronics Band 14 Omni directional antenna. We are starting to ship these units out all over the country from our Ft Worth facility. For more information contact your local AT&T FirstNet representative or reach out to us at [email protected].

Ten years ago in 2016 we delivered our first two MERC-LITE satcom trailers with Zumro Air Shelters to the Dominican Republic. Almost ten years later to the day we had their Ministry of Defense at our facility in Ft. Worth today for an inspection on their 3rd and newest MERC-LITE and Zumro Air Shelter. These trailers have been a real work horse for our customers over the past 20 years combining their compact size with 63u of rack space for advanced comm gear installs and a custom Zumro Air Shelter that is designed to attach to the rear of the trailer to provide a climate controlled work space with full access to all three IT racks. These trailers work especially well in Central and South America because larger command centers can not always safely navigate the narrow streets and low hanging trees and power lines. CCS will be traveling to the Dominican in a few weeks to train the soldiers assigned to this unit. The best complement a customer can pay you is "repeat business" and the Dominican Military has been a great customer and friend over the years. More to follow on this project after the training in a few weeks!

The Texas Emergency Management Conference 2026 at the Fort Worth Texas Convention Center is less than a month away - May 25 through the 29th. CCS will be in attendance again this year in Booth 939 with our friends from IP Access International, Zumro Air Shelters, JPS, and Charter Communications (Spectrum). Our setup this year will be split into six zones to demonstrate:

• Zone 1: Command & Incident Operations
• Zone 2: Mobile & Fleet Connectivity
• Zone 3: Temporary Infrastructure & Coverage
• Zone 4: Portable & Rapid Deployment
• Zone 5: Interoperability
• Zone 6: Connectivity Layer (IP Access)

This will be a complete representation of what we work to bring to the table for our customers every single day: the ability to communication and function anywhere in the world regardless of the availability of local resources. You hope for the best, but you plan for the worst.

Stop by and see us in Cowtown, there will be a lot of cool technology on display!!

PERC KITS FOR VOTING CENTERS: Customers are always better at figuring out cool applications for our products than we are are. These past couple of years several of our customers including Harris County down in Houston and Denton County right here in North Texas have been using their CCS PERC Kits to provide network access at Voting Centers and Polling Sites. What a great idea! During the time period for US Citizens to cast their votes, these Voting Centers need secure network connectivity for the staff working the centers and for some of the equipment used at the Center. Many times the physical locations where these centers are located are not equipped to support this temporary network need. Instead of spending thousands of dollars to bring in additional land based services, our customers can simply deploy a PERC unit that provides both wireless and hard wired network connections.

Most PERCs are equipped with a Pepwave dual sim dual modem BR2 router which means they can support two different SIM cards simultaneously from two different network providers and if the cell coverage is not great, they can also accept a network feed through a WAN port such as a Starlink satellite connection or a local network already at the site. The Pepwave can even allow a wireless WAN connection is there is a secure reliable wireless network nearby. The PERC can run a full day on batteries, but can also be plugged in for indefinite run times. A simple secure affordable way to provide a solid network for these Voting Centers.
