Here's a different one. At my other job, our business was hired by Hedingham Golf Club with the intention of replacing a circular emblem on their road sign.

This emblem was a lost artwork as far as I could tell and needed to be recreated from the 3rd picture below. I used Photoshop to manipulate the image and create something that could be traced. The final artwork used Illustrator to create an accurate vector of the original work.

What is the face of your business worth?

I see business owners, daily, paying $50 or $20 or even nothing for a symbol that will represent them to every potential client and customer they come across. Plagued by low resolution files, incomplete logo packages, and no future support, these business owners smile because they “got a good deal”.

The files they’re given by their “designer” are cropped haphazardly to work for profile pictures. Their website logo has a background that doesn’t match the site because this was the only file they received. They send a low resolution PNG or JPG file to their printer who asks for a better version to no avail. Meanwhile, they find another business on Facebook with a logo eerily similar.

Of course, these same business owners decide to “rebrand” after a few years. They run to the same AI-driven logo builders and design farms, or try design-by-committee. The end result is usually an abomination as they try to please everyone, or worse…only themselves. Blinded by self, when the focus should have been on their customers the whole time. Back to where they were, and after a few years, they’ll start over yet again.
