Pakedge wireless firmware v1.22 is now available. This firmware version provides a patch for the KRACK vulnerabilities and addresses several wireless issues found in firmware versions 1.20 and 1.21. Firmware v1.22 is available. All firmware updates must be applied manually.
This firmware version provides a patch for the KRACK vulnerability on all WK and WX Series wireless access points. For more information on the KRACK vulnerability, see the following Knowledgebase article: Understanding "KRACK" WiFi security weakness and Pakedge/Control4 devices
FAQ
Which series of wireless access points does v1.22 (including the patch for KRACK) apply to?
WK Series (all models of WK-1 and WK-2) and WX Series (all models
of WX-1). It does not apply to the WR-1 Wireless Router.
What are the known issues found in v1.20 and v1.21 that have been addressed in v1.22?
• Intermittent 5 GHz connectivity: There have been a small number of instances where certain WiFi settings may cause problems with the 5 GHz configuration, including running a site survey from the AP, making multiple changes to the wireless settings, or running the SmartWav optimization feature from the NK-1 Wireless Controller. Problems you may encounter include devices connected to the 5 GHz band falling offline, multiple hidden 5 GHz SSIDs broadcasting with open security, or some 5 GHz SSIDs broadcasting with a 00:00:00:00:00:00 MAC address.
• Intermittent 2.4 GHz and 5 GHz connectivity after upgrade from v1.18: Upgrading a AP from v1.18 directly to v1.20 or v1.21 (bypassing v1.19) may result in a missing RSSI threshold value. This may cause some devices to not connect or to disconnect entirely from the 2.4 GHz or 5 GHz wireless bands. For more details, refer to the KB article below.
Why are there multiple firmware versions released in such a short
period of time?
After the release of firmware v1.20, we discovered instances where some iOS devices (most notably the iPhone 6) could experience poor roaming and throughput performance. We released v1.21 to address this issue. Following this release, additional wireless issues were uncovered that were present in both v1.20 and v1.21. These issues have now been fully addressed in today’s release, v1.22.
Even if I don't am no longer experiencing these issues, should I update the firmware?
With the patch for KRACK vulnerability included in this release, we recommend this firmware update be applied for all access points.
