Are password managers safe to use? Yes, and no.

There's no way to stay 100% safe online. Even if you use a reliable password manager, there are certain risks that you should know about:

Bad password manager. If it has weaker encryption, offers few features, and has poor reviews, you shouldn’t use it. When it comes to securing your vault, saving a few bucks a month shouldn’t be your main priority. That’s especially true for free password managers which often lack the necessary security features to effectively protect your credentials at all times.

What is phishing? Phishing is the fraudulent practice of sending emails purporting to be from reputable companies in order to induce individuals to reveal personal information, such as passwords and credit card numbers.

Here at EITS we love helping our costumers with improving their cyber and tech security posture. For all the Apple people out there, Apple is introducing Lockdown mode to a line of products in the fall:

Messages: Most message attachment types other than images are blocked. Some features, like link previews, are disabled.

Apple services: Incoming invitations and service requests, including FaceTime calls, are blocked if the user has not previously sent the initiator a call or request.

Web browsing: Certain complex web technologies, like just-in-time (JIT) JavaScript compilation, are disabled unless the user excludes a trusted site from Lockdown Mode.

Wired connections with a computer or accessory are blocked when iPhone is locked.

Configuration profiles cannot be installed, and the device cannot enroll into mobile device management (MDM) while Lockdown Mode is turned on.

The “Tech Imposter”
These scammers may reach out to you or an older family member to “help” with a non-existent problem — in order to access their computer and confidential information.

The “Romance Con”
Often lurking around dating and social sites, these scammers try to gain trust before asking for money.

The “Phony Family Fraudster”
These scammers impersonate grandchildren and other family members, claiming to be in trouble and in need of money.
