I was looking at the bottom of my shoe recently and realized something.
As we step into 2026, we’re all focused on our stride. But we rarely stop to check our soles.

The ground is the ultimate equalizer. It doesn’t matter what you’re wearing to start this year. It doesn't matter your title or your pedigree. At some point, we are all walking on the same common ground. The earth is indifferent to our status; it offers the same grit, mud, and debris to every traveler.

We often believe we're just moving through our environments. We're not. We're colliding with them. Every step is an exchange. We carry the “residue” of our walk—the stress, the cynicism, the noise—and we track it into our most important spaces.

Real maturity isn't just about how you stride; it’s about the awareness of your threshold. Many cultures remove their shoes at the door for a reason. They recognize that the gear required to survive the street is a pollutant in the sanctuary.

They understand that some spaces are too important to be contaminated by where you’ve been.

The Bottom Line—
We are all walking the same ground and carrying the same world. The difference between a year of chaos and a year of peace isn't the power of our stride, but whether we have the wisdom to check our soles—and the discipline to leave the street at the door.

Texas HUB has officially changed.

The State of Texas has replaced the Historically Underutilized Business (HUB) program with VetHUB — Veteran Heroes United in Business.

VetHUB is now the state-recognized certification for service-disabled veteran-owned businesses.

For everyone else, this marks a clear shift in public-sector procurement:
• HUB certifications based on race or gender are no longer applicable at the state level
• VetHUB is the only certification carrying formal recognition
• Contractors must now differentiate through performance, compliance, experience, and delivery

The rules have changed. Understanding the landscape is critical for anyone working with state agencies, school districts, higher education, or public-sector projects.
