iAm Able Fitness is a unique customized rehabilitation centre with a fantastic backstory and team. iAM ABLE is a rehabilitation centre located in Miami, Florida, that works exclusively with paralysis patients. Through intense therapeutic exercises, mentoring and support, iAM ABLE aims to give its patients and their families the best quality of life in every aspect. The centre was founded by Alfredo, a quadriplegic survivor, and his wife, Michelle.

Alfredo and Michelle are high school sweethearts who dedicated their life to obtaining a good education to start a life of their own. After graduating from college, they did just that and got married. Just 3 days after their wedding, while on their beach honeymoon, Alfredo dove forward into knee-deep ocean water. He was instantaneously paralyzed from the neck down. After his injury, the couple realized there was a large gap between traditional rehabilitation therapy and helping survivors reach their full potential in terms of lifestyle. With this in mind, they set out to create a new rehabilitation service that could give those with paralysis their life back. A disability advocate, accessibility consultant, certified holistic health coach, published author, keynote speaker and reiki master, this woman indeed does it all while being a mother of 3! Creating a platform to amplify the voices of the disabled communities, Rose Finlay has found purpose and the drive to remain committed to her own personal growth and silencing the voice of internalized ableism.

After suffering a catastrophic spinal cord injury at the age of seventeen that left her a quadriplegic, Rose Finlay has continued to push the boundaries of societal norms and overcome ableism. Her unstoppable spirit and often outspoken voice give her the courage to challenge the “status quo” to build an inclusive world with access to opportunity for all.

Charlie Merritt and Standupforme An organization designed explicitly to increase independence for individuals with mobility impairments and to reduce their caregivers’ burden, has generously partnered with Abilitare to distribute the Abili Head Mouse Plus devices available for those who need them the most but cannot afford them.

As an advocate, Charlie Merritt is an innovator for veterans with disabilities and individuals living with paralysis.
In 2014, 7 years after his discharge from the U.S. Marine Corps, Charlie suffered a traumatic spinal cord injury, leaving him paralyzed from the neck down. Not letting this stop his passion for serving Charlie, switched gears from owning his own successful business to integrating himself into several nonprofit board assignments to ensure others in similar situations would not face the hardships and confusion of post-traumatic incidents. Garnering this experience, Charlie has founded and is the Chief Executive Officer of Stand up for Me, Inc.

Meet The Drew Crew, a non-profit founded by Clayborn himself, with a mission to change the system for those living with any form of paralysis. They provide mentorship and guidance to individuals and families of those suffering from paralysis and facilitate fundraisers about how to build independence and live a quality AND quantity of life.

The Drew Crew's director, Drew Clayborn, suffered a spinal cord injury in 2010 when he was just 15 years old while attempting a backflip. Drew was heavily involved with school activities and has been a champion for his community. The overwhelming support he, and his family, received after his injury gave them a spark. They could feel the love and support they had around them, and thus The Drew Crew was born. Drew is a motivator and educator for the disabled and non-disabled community to help bring awareness to life with a disability.

Graduating from college, growing and inspiring a community of 30 thousand people, educating the community about quad life... C5 Spinal Cord injury and quadriplegia didn't stop Erin from achieving her goals. She has her eyes set on a Law Degree and a career in disability advocacy. In 2017, Erin Field was on vacation visiting her brother in Boston when her life completely changed. Erin was just visiting her brother at his apartment and was up on the roof on the hammock with her boyfriend when the chimney the hammock was tied to collapsed on Erin. She suffered catastrophic injuries and became a quadriplegic.

Since her injury in 2017, Erin has been an advocate for disability through her social media reach where she documents her journey post-injury. She has helped numerous disabled individuals find support, inspired thousands not to give up and made the non-disabled community aware of disability rights and needs.
