Juneteenth marks the end of a dreadful era that hasn't fully ended, and won't, until we all see every human life as equally valuable and worthy. Opal Lee pushed for to be recognized for more than 20 years... President Joe Biden officially signed Juneteenth into a federal holiday in June 2021.

I was asked to write a short bio yesterday for the Downtown Gainesville Heritage and Arts District Steering Committee... :)

Joe Conner has served as the President of the Gainesville Area Visual Arts since 2017 and is the Show Chair for both the Fall Art Exhibition - which attracts artists from all over Texas & Oklahoma, and the scholarship fundraiser, For the Love of Art - a GAVA members only art show that consistently raises over $5K every year for Cooke County High School Seniors to pursue visual art. Joe is also the current Treasurer for the Cooke County Arts Council.

Joe is a small business owner in Gainesville and her company Joe Conner Designs produces graphic design, creates websites, and marketing for a wide variety of clients. Her company handles various social media accounts and Joe is the creator of Gainesville Area Curbside FB group that has 30.8K members who share her love of local.

Joe moved to Gainesville in 2006. She has three grown up children. She is passionate about the arts and is an award winning collage artist.
