Read Clay Blair's first reaction to working with a pair of Tonelux JC37s! πβ¨
Received the mics today. Beautiful. I stuck them up quickly as I was in a session on some rooms for drums and was pleasantly satisfied with the way they made the room sound, a room I know well.
Next we did grungy electric guitars and I had a pair of amps, the 37 stayed with my guitar setup all day. U67 on amps is my goto, but I was really blown away by the unique sound of these mics and I retired it after the first round of guitars for the 37.
Then we did a vocal. Last time this artist was here I used a C12 and was happy with the result for the most part. It was a very punchy type of male vocal, I tossed the 37 up. The high end blew me away. And it matched the song so well. The C12 I remember having to pull some things out in the mix to get it to sit right. I inserted an LA2A through the sound techniques and thoroughly enjoyed what I heard. It sat in the mix perfectly.
Canβt wait to try them on other sources. But I think these are going to be a daily driver for me.
Really excellent work guys. Absolutely smashed it.
