Just weeks after federal agencies pushed back major digital accessibility deadlines, the National Federation of the Blind filed a lawsuit seeking to restore the original dates. This is an important development for anyone following ADA Title II or Section 504 because it shows the debate is no longer about whether organizations should become accessible, but how quickly they will be required to do it.

Title II and Section 504 deadlines continues to hang in the balance amid a new lawsuit, and it’s critical that impacted orgs maintain compliance momentum.

When people browse a website, they rely on visual cues to understand how information is organized.

Headings create hierarchy, form labels identify input fields, lists group related items, and tables establish relationships between data. However, users of assistive technologies such as screen readers cannot always perceive these visual cues unless they are programmatically defined in the underlying code.

In this article, we explain what WCAG 1.3.1 requires, why semantic structure matters, common implementation challenges, and practical ways to improve accessibility on your WordPress website.

Learn how to meet WCAG 1.3.1 Info and Relationships WordPress requirements by properly structuring content, headings, lists, tables, and form fields.

In this clip, Chris talks about the rush of last-minute accessibility requests, the lack of clear guidance many public entities feel, and the bigger question behind it all: why hasn’t digital accessibility been treated as a core requirement sooner?

Accessibility Deadlines Were Delayed. Now There’s a Lawsuit

A new lawsuit from the National Federation of the Blind is challenging the delay of ADA Title II web accessibility requirements.

In this clip, Chris and Amber discuss what changed, why the deadline extensions matter, and why disability advocates are pushing back.

Website accessibility requirements have been in motion for a long time, and the lawsuit raises an important question: why wait longer to make government websites accessible?

Need to change Accessibility Checker’s frontend highlight outline color?

By default, Accessibility Checker uses a dashed pink outline to help you quickly locate flagged elements on the frontend of your WordPress website. The pink was chosen because it stands out on most websites and meets contrast minimums on both light and dark backgrounds.

But some website designs need a different color. For example, if your site uses a pink background, the default outline may be difficult to see.

Our latest documentation walks you through how to update the frontend highlight outline color with a simple CSS snippet, including how to change it globally or only for specific sections of a page.

Hiding content is not a single accessibility technique. Different methods affect screen readers, keyboard navigation, and the accessibility tree in completely different ways, and this article does a great job explaining why that distinction matters. It’s especially useful for developers who have ever reached for display:none, aria-hidden, or visually hidden text without fully understanding the tradeoffs.

Akash Shukla explores the impact different methods of hiding digital content have on accessibility.
