When somebody pretended to be me by email, I got one big thing wrong.

I reported the fake account to Google that morning, and they shut it down the same day. Carrie put a warning up right here on Facebook. Good so far!

But I didn't email all of you that same day. I figured a dead address couldn't hurt anybody. Wrong.

Next time, everybody hears from me before lunch.

What should you do if someone is impersonating your business by email? Report the account right away, and warn your customers that same day. We got the fi...

🚨 SCAMMERS ARE AT IT AGAIN! 🚨

Well, it looks like the scammers are getting a little more creative! 🤦‍♀️

We want to give our clients and friends a heads-up about another fraudulent email making the rounds, pretending to come from Aggieland Website Design.

This one is particularly sneaky because they're using our company name, Tom's name, his photo, and even our business contact information to make the email look legitimate.
But here's what you need to know!

📧 ALWAYS check the actual email address! Even though the email looks like it's coming from us, it's being sent from a Gmail account. We do NOT use Gmail for our business correspondence. Our emails come from our company domain.

💻 We do NOT build or design WordPress websites! Never have. Our websites are custom-built, so any email claiming your WordPress website needs updates from us is a BIG red flag!

⚠️ Don't let the familiar names and photos fool you. Scammers can copy email signatures, logos, photos, and contact information to make their messages appear legitimate.

If you ever receive an email supposedly from us that seems suspicious, please get in touch with us directly before clicking links, replying, or providing any information.

We've been building websites and taking care of our clients for over 28 years, and protecting those relationships is incredibly important to us.

Please share this post! These scammers aren't just targeting our clients, and a little awareness can save someone a whole lot of headaches!

Here's what kept me up after that fake email went out under my name.

Horse associations are about the easiest thing in the world to impersonate. 😬

Your secretary might email from home one year and a Gmail account the next, and then there's a new secretary anyway. Nobody thinks twice about a new address.

So a fake "treasurer" asking members to pay somewhere new? Looks completely normal.

What officers can do about it 👇

Why are horse associations so easy for scammers to impersonate? Because nobody expects an associations email address to stay the same. I figured this o...
