Join Dr. Nikki Buckelew and her guest, Marilyn Olson, founder of VillagesOKC, for a candid conversation about how shared longevity actually unfolds in real families.
As more individuals live into their 80s, 90s, and beyond, longevity reshapes relationships, responsibilities, finances, housing decisions, and family dynamics in ways few people fully anticipate.
Marilyn brings both personal and professional insight to this discussion. She has served as caregiver to her Aunt Jessie, as well as to her mother and mother-in-law— both of whom lived to 100. In addition to her personal caregiving journey, she has spent decades coaching and consulting families through aging transitions as a leader in aging services and a trusted guide in her community.
Together, Dr. Buckelew and Marilyn will explore:
● The shifting roles between parents and children
● The intersection of autonomy, responsibility, respect and love
● The emotional and practical tensions that often go unspoken
● What families learn when living under the same roof
This will be an honest, thoughtful conversation grounded in lived experience. It is designed to help individuals and families think more clearly about what extended longevity requires — not just of one person, but of everyone involved.
