In 2006, one of the mothers of a HARApad co-founder was diagnosed with breast cancer, inspiring a personal research endeavor to learn more about cancer. Through further research on several suspected causes of cancer, he found a recurring
topic – electrom
agnetic radiation (EMR). He assembled a team of two additional engineers to further his research in finding which devices were producing this EMR. This group began meeting in their spare time, several times a week, poring over
research and testing. Armed with a gauss-meter and pages of doctoral reports, the team found in their research that a significant amount of electromagnetic radiation is generated from laptops. The idea to develop a radiation-reducing product grew into an actual
design, and the design turned into a verified product right in the home of the co-founder. After two years of extensive testing, ideation, result verification and design optimization, the “Heat And Radiation Attenuating pad,” or HARApad a laptop radiation shield, was born. Now HARApad sells globally and is dedicated to educating the public about the harm that can come from cell phones, laptops, and wifi.
