LemonDuck is a newer malware that came out around the beginning of the Covid-19 Pandemic but is evolving and spreading fast. LemonDuck can steal credentials, remove security controls, and spread itself via emails and USB drives This malware is impacting a large geographic region from North America to parts of Europe and Asia. The malware can replicate itself via fake phishing emails, and USB devices like flash drives. Protecting yourself against malware like the LemonDuck: Scanning USB drives is a good way to stay clear of the threat. Also stay clear of suspicious emails.

This week a new malware has started spreading across the U.S. This malware is called XLoader and it is effecting Windows and Mac devices. XLoader is activated on your device by opening links in phishing emails/Scam emails. XLoader is stealthy, one way to tell if you are already compromised is to,
1. Go to /Users/[username]/Library/LaunchAgents directory
2. Check for suspicious filenames in this directory (example below is a random name)
/Users/user/Library/LaunchAgents/com.wznlVRt83Jsd.HPyT0b4Hwxh.plist ,
One way to prevent users from ever getting these types of phishing emails is by using a email filtering service with your business email solution. This can prevent the chance of anyone ever clicking on them to begin with. If you are currently not utilizing a service like this and are interested, please reach out to us to discuss more.
