Meniscus is located in Grand Rapids, MI - “Furniture City” at one time. But, the old furniture factories remain and we’re happy to be located in one of the oldest on the NW side of town. Years ago – (25?) Meniscus Audio started out as a hobby gone wild. It took up about half the basement in my family's moderately sized home. With a classified ad in “Audio” and “Stereo Review” Magazines and a 6-pag
e photo copied catalog, I was on my way. As the company grew, we moved to successively larger buildings, and now occupy about 8000 sq./ft., with about 1/3 the space dedicated to our wood shop. One thing that hasn’t changed is that we’ve always remained “speaker builders.” We’ve tried just about every driver, know how they sound, and integrate into your design. Meniscus is a fun place to work – making sawdust, playing with speaker parts and listening to music. When I was a kid, my hobby was constructing scale models with the old turntable spinning away. I often thought, “Where might I find a career building cool things and listening to tunes?” Karma! If you call you’ll probably talk with Mark or Chad and sometimes Joel. Chad handles the speaker measurements and crossover designs. Mark heads up product development and oversees the wood shop. Joel works on many of our custom wood projects and much of our speaker repairs. We value honesty and doing the right thing.
