A real account, a real thread, a real invoice, and a request that shows up two days before payment is due. Nothing to spot, because nothing about it is wrong except who's typing.

So the check can't be "does this look legitimate." It has to be procedural.

It wasn't reckless. It was 7:23am on a busy Wednesday.

An email that looked completely normal, sitting between a PTO policy update and a reminder about expense reports. A link that loaded a real-looking page. Credentials entered without a second thought.

By the time anything seemed wrong, it had already been wrong for a while.

Ask whoever handles your IT when they last took a real day off.

Watch them do the math.

One IT person. Two hundred devices. Zero mornings that go as planned.

They get stopped in the hallway before they reach their desk, which is technically the fastest ticket system in the building... 🤦‍♂️

By 10, they've reset four passwords. Two of them belong to the same person. That person will be back.

The printer has moved past technical issues and into what can only be described as a personality conflict.

Somewhere on their calendar is a block that says "strategic projects." It has been rescheduled eleven times. It will be rescheduled again.

Your IT person isn't behind because they're slow. They're behind because it's arithmetic.
