First time repairing broken traces on a ripped home button for an iPad!

Looks ugly because it’s not cleaned up yet. These jumpers about the size of a hair.

The flex had the tiniest little rip that disabled the iPad home button click. Fingerprint reader never stopped working. The rip was on the top side, so it was probably from shards of glass during the break or while taking the broken screen off.

Everything works!

It's always refreshing to be able to reball chips as part of our diagnosis process!

Often times water gets under a chip and causes corrosion that can't be cleaned. The only way to fix it is to remove the chip, clean off the old solder and then put new solder balls on and put it back on the board.

We use some generic multi-stencils that are made for common solder pad sizes and pitches.
