The Rogue Valley Business Collective keeps growing, and we’ve been putting a lot of work into making the directory better for both the businesses listed and the people using it.

The listings have been getting a full refresh. They’re cleaner, easier to use on phones, and do a much better job showing what each business actually does, where they work, how to contact them, and where to find them online.

We’re also making each profile feel more like the business it represents instead of giving everybody the exact same generic directory page.

That matters because RVBC was never supposed to be a list of logos.

The goal is to give Southern Oregon businesses another legitimate place to be found, while giving people around Grants Pass, Medford, Central Point, Phoenix, Rogue River and the rest of the Rogue Valley an easier way to discover somebody local when they need something.

If you haven’t looked through it lately, take another look. A lot has changed.

And if your business is already listed, go check out your page. There’s a good chance it looks a little different now.

The theme of today seems pretty clear: having good friends makes life possible.

Today’s 1 Million Cups Rogue Valley presentation was Little Beans GP. Leila shared that without good friends and the support of the Grants Pass business community, she wouldn’t be where she is today.

I understand that more than most. My “framily” - the friends who became family - includes at least 19 kids under 15. I’ve been to Little Beans more times than I can count, whether for birthday parties or simply because that’s where my friends take their kids.

I saw spaces like this all the time in the bigger cities where I lived while serving in the military. They give kids somewhere safe to play while giving parents a place to breathe, work, talk and build friendships of their own.

Grants Pass may be our big little town, but there is a real need here. According to the U.S. Census Bureau, 22.4% of Grants Pass residents are under 18, including 5.2% under age 5. That’s thousands of local children and families who need places to gather and find their own village.

Little Beans is more than a place for kids to play. It’s part of the community support system Leila needed, so she went out and built it.

Relationships are infrastructure.

Who are your friends? Better yet, who has become your framily?

Grants Pass & Josephine County Chamber of Commerce Greeters at the Grange is something I genuinely look forward to each week. You get to hear what people are building, meet the people behind it, and learn just how much is happening in our community.

Rat Rod Rukkus hosted us this morning, and this is much more than a car show. Their club member count has grown from 8 to 65 people because they’ve built a real community; one where people show up and help each other.

Rat Rod Rukkus returns to Pottsville Historical Park and Museum September 17-19, with the main event happening Saturday, September 19.

📍 2400 Pleasant Valley Road, Merlin
🚘 Rat rods, hot rods, customs and motorcycles
🔧 An expanded swap meet
🎶 Live music, contests, vendors and more
🎟️ Raffles for a handmade quilt and a 1973 Chevy Squarebody Stepside pickup - an actual truck, not a Hot Wheel 😂

The event also supports local causes, including SPARROW Club of Southern Oregon, foster children in Josephine County and Operation Rambo, which provides service dogs for veterans. Food donations can also help lower the vehicle-registration cost at the gate.

Check the Grants Pass & Josephine County Chamber of Commerce calendar or visit the Rat Rod Rukkus page for complete details.

Get involved, people. Our community doesn’t become stronger by accident. It happens when we show up.

And if you’ve already quit your day job, what are you waiting for? Join the Chamber! 😂

Another Rotary Club of Rotary Club of Bear Creek Valley- District 5110 meeting in the books.

Today’s guest speaker was Greg, an owner of ETHOS Academy; and also one of The Meltdown's Community Founders.

Greg shared some of the work happening in rural Cambodia: character and leadership development, college savings programs, training local leaders to do their own research, and building systems designed around self-reliance instead of long-term dependence on outside aid.

Integrity. Honor. Courage. Then give people the tools to lead for themselves.

The Dolly Parton quote in the photo felt fitting:

“I didn’t have children because I believed that God didn’t mean for me to have kids so everybody’s kids could be mine.”

Community doesn’t stop at a city limit, county line, or even a country.

That’s one of the things I appreciate about Rotary. The idea of “Service Above Self” isn’t just a slogan. It’s about looking beyond yourself, investing in people, and helping communities build something that can last.

Proud to keep meeting people who are actually doing the work.

If you aren’t sure how to Google… check us out. 😏

The Meltdown’s new website has been live for roughly 9 days.

Already:
🔥 93 active users
🔥 250 page views
🔥 117 sessions
🔥 39 NEW users directly from Organic Search
🔥 42 total Organic Search sessions
🔥 Google Search is already their #1 source of new website visitors
🔥 Their menu alone has been viewed almost 100 times

And this is before the site has even had time to properly age in search.
That doesn’t mean we’re claiming they magically rank #1 for everything overnight.

It means the foundation is doing exactly what it should:

Google found the business.
Google indexed the website.
People are searching.
People are clicking.

And they’re landing on the pages that can actually turn them into customers.

That’s the difference between simply having a website and building a website as part of an actual digital strategy.

We build WordPress websites you own, connect the analytics, Google Search Console, local search signals, Google Business Profile, schema, and the rest of the infrastructure so we can actually measure what happens after launch.

The Meltdown is only 9 days in.

Imagine what happens after 30. 60. 90....

Want to see whether people can actually find your business when they Google what you do?

Smarter Strategy. Stronger Results

Ask me to show up, and I will.

Stopped in today to make sure things were going smoothly at Susan Fischer-Maki for Oregon's 3rd House District’s event, and I’m glad I did.

Good turnout, friendly faces, and more importantly, real conversations happening face-to-face. The table seems to be getting bigger.

Whatever your politics are, don’t rely on an algorithm, a headline, or somebody else’s Facebook post to tell you what to think. Show up. Ask questions. Listen to the answers. Talk to people you agree with and people you don’t.

That’s how a community actually gets to know the people asking to represent it.

If you’re putting together a community conversation, candidate event, local forum, or something that gets people in the same place actually talking to each other, ask me to show up. I will, if I can.

Keep your ear out for the next one around the Rogue Valley.

And now, I mustache you a question… 🥸
What concerns you most about our community right now?

Drop it below. 👇

This is what local collaboration is supposed to look like. 👏

Signature Productions came out to The Meltdown Grand Opening at Rally at ETHOS yesterday and absolutely crushed this drone footage.

If your business has an event, property, project, or story that deserves better visuals than somebody holding a phone in the parking lot, go give them a follow and check out their work.

We’re always looking for talented Rogue Valley businesses to keep in our ecosystem, and Signature Productions just made the list.

And yes… The Meltdown looks pretty incredible from the air. 🧀🔥

Local businesses supporting local businesses. That’s the whole point.

Okay Grants Pass... hear me out.

You could stay home tonight… or you could load everybody up, make the drive over to Phoenix, and actually do something fun.

Bounce houses for the kids. Face painting. 6 food trucks. A bar. Live music. A whole lot going on in one place.

I drove from Hyatt Lake all the way back to GP to feed puppies, stopped by on my way back out just to grab footage of what you’re missing at The Meltdown, and now I’m headed back up the mountain. 😂

It’s going until 10 PM, so there’s still plenty of time to get over there.
Come Rally at ETHOS with us!

And trust me — you do not want to miss the guy I flew in from Vegas for tonight.

GP, get in the car. You’re closer than you think.

In case you missed the article:

"The Southern Oregon business community also deserves a tremendous amount of credit. One of the things that has surprised me most is how willing local business owners are to help each other succeed when someone shows up consistently and genuinely wants to contribute. Organizations like the Grants Pass & Josephine County Chamber of Commerce, Dr. Kim Freeze, Terry Hopkins, the team at Rogue Produce, Rogue Valley Food System Network, and countless networking groups introduced me to people who became clients, collaborators, and friends.

I’m especially grateful to Nik Martin, whose creativity and ability to tell a story helped bring The Meltdown to life. Watching people take ownership of something bigger than themselves has been one of the most rewarding parts of the journey.

I’m also thankful to the dozens of local businesses that chose to trust Rogue Media Solutions. Every client gave us the opportunity to prove that marketing could be done differently; with transparency, education, and long-term thinking. That trust became the foundation for everything that followed."

You wouldn’t rent every tool or piece of equipment you need to run your business forever. At some point, ownership just makes more financial sense.

So why treat your website differently?

A website shouldn’t just be another monthly subscription keeping the lights on. Done right, it becomes a business asset you can own, improve, move, expand, and build on year after year.

And unlike a lot of equipment, a good website has the potential to become more valuable over time as you add content, strengthen local authority, earn search visibility, and collect real data through Google Search Console.

The question isn’t just:
“How much does my website cost every month?”

It’s:
“Is my website helping the customers already searching for me actually find me?”

That’s what we build around at Rogue Media Solutions.

Why rent something you can own?
