When was the last time your IT person took a full week off without checking email? If you can't remember, the role has probably outgrown one person. Our new blog explains how co-managed IT supports your internal IT staff without replacing them.

See how the work gets split between your team and ours.

Many mid-sized companies run IT the same way. One person knows the passwords, how the firewall is configured, and why the accounting server can't be rebooted on Tuesdays. That person is usually very good at the job. They're also on call every hour of every day, they haven't taken a full week off in....

This is how it happens.

A tool needed a library. The library needed custom settings. Something broke, so someone wrote a workaround, and the workaround needed its own box. Years later nobody remembers which piece of the puzzle was the original business need, so now the whole stack needs to be maintained because unplugging any part of it is too frightening to consider.

The question behind this mess boils down to “What does this actually do?” Most companies can’t answer that question.

If your networking environment has a box nobody can explain, a Network Discovery might be in order. We will map what you have and explain exactly what each piece of equipment does.

If you are building next year's technology budget right now, three numbers are worth having before you finish.

How many machines hit five years old in 2027. How many software licenses you are paying for that nobody uses. And what you spent this year on IT problems you did not see coming.

That last one is usually the most revealing. Unplanned IT costs tend to get absorbed across a dozen line items, which makes them invisible until someone adds them up.

We help clients build this view every fall. If you would rather walk into next year with a plan than a hope, now is the right month for it.

Replacing every computer in the building at once is a bad year for your budget.

Most business machines have a useful life of about five years. After that, repair costs climb, warranties lapse, and the hardware stops supporting current operating systems. The problem is that companies tend to buy in bulk, which means they also replace in bulk, and a quiet IT budget turns into a five-figure surprise.

Staggering fixes that. Replace a fifth of your fleet each year and the cost becomes a predictable line item instead of a crisis. You also stop running an office where every machine ages out the same month.

Not sure what you are working with? A hardware inventory is a good place to start.

Look closely at the AI incidents making headlines and a pattern shows up: most of them were not AI failures. They were governance failures that AI made faster, louder, and more expensive.

Ken McCoy of Confiance Cybersecurity joins us to break down two of the most talked-about incidents of recent years and show what actually went wrong underneath the AI story. You will leave with practical guidance on acceptable use policies, vendor assessment, and his Fundamentals Framework for closing the gaps AI tends to expose.

When people talk about IT downtime, they usually talk about money. For a medical practice, the first sign of trouble is a patient who booked weeks ago, sitting in the waiting room while the front desk explains that no one can pull up their chart.

When a clinician can't confirm a medication or see a recent lab result, the safe call is to wait. That means rescheduling and repeating tests. One study put the median cost of EHR downtime at $488 per hour, per physician, and that number doesn't account for the patient who decides not to reschedule at all.

Our latest article gets into why practices are so exposed to this, and how a tested recovery plan changes what an outage actually costs.

Nobody needs to guess your password. They already have it.

Billions of credentials from past breaches are available to attackers, organized and searchable. The attack is not guessing — it is taking a password that worked somewhere else and trying it against your email, your VPN, and your banking portal. It works often enough to be worth automating.

Multi-factor authentication stops a stolen password from being enough on its own, and it is the single highest-value control available to a small business. A password manager makes unique passwords for every account practical instead of theoretical, which is the only way reuse actually stops.

Windows 10 stopped receiving security updates in October 2025. A year later, plenty of businesses are still running it.

End-of-life software is a quiet risk because nothing breaks. The machine boots, staff work, and the only change is that newly discovered vulnerabilities never get patched. Attackers keep track of which versions stopped getting fixes.

Worth inventorying this quarter: any Windows 10 machines still in service, Server 2016, and the SQL Server and Exchange versions most businesses forget they are running.

The budget conversation is easier in October than it is in March.
