That's useful, but it raises a question every IT team understands:
What should this account be allowed to do?
The answer starts with clear ownership, limited permissions, monitoring, and a way to stop activity when something looks wrong.
New technology still benefits from well-practiced security habits.

What a SOC Tier 1 analyst actually does with an alert
SOC Analyst Tier 1 is one of the most common first jobs in cyber. The core of it is triage. For every alert, the analyst works through a few questions:

1️⃣ Is it real? Check whether the alert matches known false positives or expected activity, like a scheduled scan or an admin task.
2️⃣ What's affected? Identify the user, device or system, and how critical it is.
3️⃣ What else happened around it? Look at related logs before and after: logins, network connections, other alerts on the same host.
4️⃣ How serious is it? Rate severity using the team's playbook.
5️⃣ Close, or escalate? Document the reasoning either way, and hand real incidents to Tier 2 with everything you found.

Reading about this isn't the same as doing it under time pressure, which is why hands-on labs matter more than videos.

AI projects have a technology component, but many of the hardest problems aren't technical. Scope changes. Stakeholders disagree. Risks emerge. Resources move. Requirements evolve. A successful technology initiative still needs clear objectives, ownership, communication and disciplined ex*****on. New technology doesn't make project management less important. It gives project managers a new set of variables to manage.

Ask around at any cybersecurity conference and you'll find that nobody there started as a "computer person."

The retail manager who spent years reading people and defusing situations. The nurse who handled protected records under HIPAA without a slip. The logistics sergeant who held a clearance and ran a supply chain on deadline.

All of them were doing parts of the job, just without the title.

For hiring managers, that's worth sitting with. If your requisitions filter for years of it experience first, you may be screening out the judgement and discipline your SOC actually needs. The technical layer can be rained. Calm under pressure and not cutting corners are much harder to teach.

Linux sometimes gets treated as though it's automatically secure because it's Linux.
It isn't.
Linux systems still need good administration, sensible permissions, updates, monitoring and recoverable backups.
And when something goes wrong, somebody needs to know where to look.
Which process shouldn't be running?
Which account changed?
Which service started?
What do the logs show?
Can the system be recovered?
Security tools help.
Knowing the operating system underneath them helps even more.
