Did anyone party it up last night? I, for one, was in bed at 11. 😴

2021 was hard many ways but I’m really grateful for a few things too. I grew my family by 1 little human (and she’s the sweetest), we had some quality family time, and weddings happened! 💍

So grateful for my 2021 clients (some of which I met in 2019/2020 and we walked a long road together) and some were new, fast friends. Thank you for having me as part of your day and a little piece of your life. 💕

And to my 2022 and 2023 couples, we’re just getting started - let the celebrations begin. Can’t wait to see what we create together!🥂

The CDC now recommends: Joy 🤩

Oh wait, that’s me - I reccommend joy. It’s my word of the year for 2022. Sometimes with 2 little kids at home - and a business that I can’t usually take a day off from - I find myself going through the motions and “getting through the day” especially in this pandemic season we are in. I am deciding to choose JOY for this year. Joy in the little moments of everyday life as my kids grow up and change so much - as well as the joy you get from giving back, taking risks, and going on adventures.

✨STORY TIME✨ Mernelis & Seth came in to the studio one morning in July 2019 and we chatted about all of their wedding day dreams. They had the coolest venue () booked for a Summer 2020 wedding in Manhattan. I googled their venue before they came in and knew right away I wanted to draw inspiration from the awesome stained glass window in the restaurant (see pic 2) which is representative of this buildings amazing history. This beautiful building was the carriage house and barn belonging to, attorney general, Aaron Burr in the 1790’s 🤯 (read the whole history on pic 5).

As we chatted Mernelis showed me a pic of her gorgeous Mantilla veil and the scalloped lace details reminded me a little of the patterned glass and I knew I wanted to draw something to represent both of them for the save the dates and invitation liner. We got to work and came up with a design that was not only beautiful but also meaningful & personal! And we didn’t leave Seth out, he is a lover of history so this was all right up his alley! We picked out some cool presidential stamps to complete the look.

And like every summer 2020 wedding love story, it did end up happily ever after just not in the way they had originally planned. Mernelis and Seth had to pivot their plans to a September wedding on a beautiful country club in NJ where they could be outside and spread out. We still used their beautiful designs on the new invitations because they were just too special not to. They had a magical beautiful day surrounded by their closest family and friends and that is what really matters most at the end of the day.

In 9 years of marriage - we have laughed, we have cried, we have loved and we have lost. We rescued a kitten, we bought a house and made it a home, we adopted a puppy, we went on adventures, started a business, a new job and we made the most perfect little boy. I love you for being my constant support, source of laughter, tall handsome hubby with the kindest eyes and cutest dimple and for being my partner in life and parenting (and for always taking out the garbage because I still can’t get the days right 🤷🏻‍♀️).

I struggle to find the words to write - these days are heavy and the world feels so uncertain. Business is uncertain, health is uncertain and the future is uncertain.

What I do know is that spring is here and every day the grass gets a little greener and the flowers are beginning to emerge from the soil. We will emerge from this too and we will bloom.
