Port City BRAWL is a premium single day Premodern Magic The Gathering event and not just a single tournament. This event is presented by the Wilmington Premodern Crew and hosted by Trade Binder at Aloft at Coastline Convention Center here in Wilmington, NC.

The all day event revolves around the one day main event known as BRAWL which is a Premodern tournament consisting of 7 rounds of Swiss with a cut to top 8 with a 128 player cap. The main event is run at REL with a Judge. The event is NO PROXY, GOLD border friendly event.

In addition to the above mentioned main event there are FREE side events throughout the day that are included in with the main event entry fee.

There will two planned draft events this day that are NOT included in the event entry. These draft events are 8 player, single elimination, 3 rounds. Entry to draft events are $100 and and prize support of 3-2-1-1 with packs from the sets were will be drafting which are Invasion, Apocalypse & Judgement.

We will also be holding out now legendary charity raffle that benefits Nourish NC a local food bank here in Wilmington, NC that focuses on feeding food insecure children.

This year's featured artist will be Mark Poole and Tom Fleming.

April 17th, 2027 - Doors Open at 9:00AM to anyone for free and Main Event Fires at 10:30AM with paid entry to the main event.

PRIZES FOR MAIN EVENT
Main event entry fee is $100 - Full Prize Support for Top 16.

All players receive a stamped card for paid event entry

1st Place- Gaea's Cradle (NM Urza's Saga English)
2nd Place- Mox Diamond (NM Stronghold ENG)
3rd Place- Survival of the Fittest (NM Exodus ENG)
4th Place- Survival of the Fittest (NM Exodus ENG)
5th to 8th Place- Phyrexian Dreadnaught (NM Mirage ENG)
9th through 16th - Powder Keg (NM Urza's Destiny ENG)
All top 16 players will also receive a stamped card for placing.

Saturday - Main Event - April 17th, 2027 - $100 entry

9:00 AM - Doors Open - No entry fee to come and hang out or pick up casual games,trade, or meet the artist!

9:30AM - All deck list for main event must be submitted

10:30 AM - Main Event Begins 7 Rounds of Swiss w/ cut to top 8

12:00PM - The Bar Opens

2:30 PM - 8 Player Draft - Invasion, Planechase & Apocalypse - $100 Entry with 3-2-1-1 Prizing

Port City BRAWL 2026 this Saturday April 4th, 2026 Update:

We don't cancel events.
We do not cut prize support down for any reason.

This is an all day event. Doors open at 9:00AM and close at Midnight.

This all day event features one main event and as many prize supported side events as we cram in 14 hours in a nice, spacious and clean convention center with a fully stocked bar would take an act of god to cancel. All our events are pre paid for, prize support is secured and stowed away long before promotions and sign ups begin. So if you are or were on the fence of on if this even happens or not, I can assure you it will.

Whether its 8 players or 128 players, we brawl. This is about building a yearly event here in the south that is focused on the vibe, the community, playing as much magic as possible and still offering top shelf prize support all with charity in mind in keeping with the spirit and the roots of what the Premodern community has been built upon.

Event Details:

This is an All Day Event featuring fully prized side events.
Entry with Main Event Ticket is $100
Doors Open at 9:00AM with in person registration
Main Event will fire between 10:00AM and 10:30AM once all deck submissions are turned in.
REL event with a Judge on hand. Gold Border Friendly, no proxies.

Charity Raffle for Nourish NC:

We have donated a lot of high dollar singles, playmats and packs for our charity raffle. Sierra Rush and the Rush family were kind enough to donate some hand signed artist proofs as well as some sweet premodern artist proofs for our raffle. The raffle will benefit Nourish NC Foodbank local to Wilmington, NC. We will be matching every dollar taken in for the raffle. Some pics of some of the raffle items.

FREE Side events ALL DAY - 14 hours of Magic will begin to fire around 1:00PM for everyone who has paid for the main event and will continue all day until midnight.
Each side event is 8 players, 3 rounds, winner takes all.
Prize support is a random single from a pool ranging in value from $50 to $250.

Tom Fleming will be the guest Magic artist hanging out to sign and doodle. He will even have some amazing prints and originals for sale all day. So come have a beer and meet our local legend.

PREMODERN DRAFTS - Invasion/Apocalyspe/Judgement Draft events are an additional $100 per player with prize support paid out in packs from these sets as 3-2-2-1

We will be live streaming several of the matches through out the day as well.
