So, this morning I decided to again Google about all the restaurants/bars in Aberdeen charging debit cards the 3% fee. Here is what Google said. "It is generally illegal in the U.S. for merchants to add a surcharge to debit card transactions. While surcharges are permitted for credit cards (usually capped around 3-4% and requiring disclosure), they are explicitly prohibited for debit/prepaid cards by network rules." We need to start complaining or turn them in? They are making lots of money off us when you add it all together and they are charged a much lower rate for debit cards. Not a lot per person but it is the principal of it. If the restaurant will not remove the charge, call your bank and report it and they will remove the charge. If reported too many times, they will be in trouble.. Do your own research.
