Some things are supposed to be scary on Halloween. Ghosts, goblins, haunted houses, and whatever that noise was coming from the attic.

Your business technology shouldn't be one of them.

At Mighty Manatee IT, we prefer to keep the scares to costumes and jack-o'-lanterns, not ransomware, phishing emails, and unexpected computer crashes.

From our Mighty Manatee family to yours, have a safe, fun, and delightfully spooky Halloween!

And remember, if your computer starts acting possessed, we're pretty sure an exorcism isn't covered under your support plan.

Happy Halloween!

Who actually owns your company's domain name?

You might think the answer is obvious. After all, you're paying for it.

But about ten years ago, we helped a bookkeeping firm that discovered its former IT provider had registered its domain under his own name. When the business needed to make changes for a new website, nobody could access the registration.

It took nearly six months to sort out.

Your domain name, website, email, and cloud services are essential business assets. But do you know who actually controls the accounts behind them?

In this week's Mighty Manatee IT Playbook, we share that real-world story and five questions every business owner should be able to answer.

Because paying for something and controlling it aren't always the same thing.

The cheapest option isn't always the best deal. Especially when it comes to protecting your business.

Microsoft 365 Business Basic costs $8.40 per user per month, while Business Premium costs $26.40. That's a pretty big difference, and it's understandable why business owners might question whether Premium is worth the extra money.

But the difference isn't just about Word, Excel, and Outlook.

Business Premium includes additional capabilities to protect company information, manage computers and mobile devices, and control access to business systems.

Does every employee need it? Not necessarily. The important thing is choosing the right license for what each person does and what your organization needs to protect.

In this week's Mighty Manatee IT Playbook, we explain the differences and why the cheapest license isn't always the smartest purchase.
