Still using a Windows 10 PC that can't upgrade to Windows 11? You still have options.
With the cost of new computers and many computer components rising significantly in recent years, extending the life of a system that still meets your needs can often be the smartest financial decision.
Microsoft recently announced that home users enrolled in Extended Security Updates can continue receiving important Windows 10 security updates through October 12, 2027. This adds another year beyond the program’s originally announced October 2026 end date.
Here are the ways you can enroll:
• Free: Sign in with a Microsoft account and use Windows Backup to sync your PC settings.
• Free: Redeem 1,000 Microsoft Rewards points.
• Paid: Make a one-time purchase of $30, plus applicable tax.

If your business is still running Windows 10, you have options as well. Businesses can purchase Extended Security Updates for eligible PCs for up to three years after Windows 10 reached end of support in October 2025. Commercial ESU licensing is separate from the home-user program.
