Qnect Qnect partners with structural design teams to create Early Connected Steel Models. Qnect is aiming high.

Our vision is to become the single source of quality automated connection engineering worldwide. We strive for excellence in engineering and excellence in organizational efficiency. We operate in a respectful work space that truly appreciates every human involved in our projects. We also consider impacts to the micro and macro communities we live in to be equally important measures of success.

Engineers of record: the Early Connected Model isn’t more work for you. It’s fewer fights later.

The biggest hidden cost in a structural practice isn’t design, it’s shop-drawing review. The endless re-review loop, the RFIs, the back-and-forth that erodes margin and reputation. Resolving connections early collapses that loop. When the model is connected up front, you’re reviewing a coherent design once — not chasing rejections through a stack of shop drawings.

Thanks to Erleen Hatfield, President of Hatfield Group, for sharing her experience using Qnect's early connected models.

When does steel get “locked” on your projects?

Some teams commit at 30% design development. Some wait for the fabricator. Some are forced early by mill-order lead times before anyone’s ready.

There’s no universally right answer — but the timing quietly decides how much room you have to optimize, value-engineer, or catch a problem.

Where does your team draw that line, and what’s pushing it earlier or later these days?

Time is one of the most valuable resources on any project—and Qnect helps building owners make more of it.

In this clip from Beyond the Blueprint, Michael Gustafson explores with host Jeff O’Donnell how Qnect’s connected model approach brings steel connection design into the process earlier, helping teams identify and resolve issues sooner rather than later. The result? Less rework, faster schedules, and better cost certainty.

VDC and innovation leaders: ECM is the rare “innovation” that’s actually practical.

You’ve seen the shiny demos that never touch a real project. The thing operations and preconstruction quietly ignore.

An Early Connected Model is the opposite. It connects model intelligence directly to the outcomes your operators already care about — cost, schedule, and fabrication readiness. No new religion required.

And it’s where AI earns its keep in steel. Not replacing engineers — running thousands of connection scenarios no human could evaluate by hand, then handing the engineer a recommendation to accept or override.

That’s the version of innovation that survives contact with a job site: it makes the people already doing the work faster and sharper, instead of asking them to start over.

At Qnect, we believe the future of structural engineering is informed by better data. By giving engineers the tools to evaluate cost and carbon side by side, we can make sustainability a measurable part of every design decision—not an afterthought.

One passage from the article captures why this work matters:

"Structural engineers can make a greater impact on global carbon emissions than the average citizen. Steel and concrete—two materials they use in design—account for about 15% of worldwide global warming potential (GWP)... Optimizing structural designs by even a small margin would lead to a notable impact on GWP reduction."

Thank you to Modern Steel Construction and American Institute of Steel Construction for featuring our work. Together, we're helping engineers build a more sustainable future. Visit https://lnkd.in/e6iknjWz to learn more.

Inspiring Insights from Advancing Construction Decarbonization! | Day 1
What an incredible time connecting with industry leaders at the Advancing Construction Decarbonization conference in Denver! The presentations were packed with actionable strategies for building a more sustainable future.

Here are a few major takeaways from the sessions:

Scope 3 Data: Atkinson provided a deep dive into strengthening Scope 3 data collection, emphasizing the need to distill true material emissions so contractors can rely on accurate and usable reporting.

Net Zero Business Value: Callahan delivered an excellent presentation on unlocking business value through decarbonization, detailing how to prioritize investments and interpret market drivers on the path to Net Zero.

Owner Ambitions vs. Reality: The insightful panel—featuring Hamilton, Poole, Baker, Yamasaki, and Brock—tackled the critical challenge of bridging owner sustainability ambitions with practical construction realities and fossil-fuel-dependent equipment constraints.

Steel Decarbonization At Qnect, we are deeply proud and passionate about reducing embodied carbon in steel. We are fully committed to driving sustainable outcomes through !

What would 10% off your steel package buy you — on the job you’re bidding this week?

Not hypothetically. On the actual job you’re bidding or building right now — what does 10% of the steel scope, plus a few weeks of schedule, add up to?

For most steel-heavy projects, that number is large enough to change the conversation about how connections get handled.

If it’s worth finding out, that’s exactly what an Early Connected Model is for. Drop a number, or a question, below.

Every steel innovation has a coach and a champion. They’re not the same person.

The coach tells you how decisions really get made on a project — who matters, what’s blocking, where the budget hides. Invaluable. But they won’t put their name on it.

The champion will. They advocate, they push, they spend their own credibility to move the project.

New approaches in construction live or die on whether a coach quietly becomes a champion.

When you’ve introduced something new to a project team — connected models or anything else — what tipped someone from “this is interesting” to “I’ll fight for this”?
