Refined Ideas wants to help you or your business with any of your graphic, web site, or photography needs. We do everything from posters, fliers, web sites, and photo editing as well as photography. If you have an idea, we will make it happen. If you have a need, but no ideas, we can help you there too. About the Founder, Heidi Lohman: I became interested in web design my junior year of high school and ever since then have decided that's what I desired to pursue as a career. The marriage of creativity and technical expertise still creates a sense of empowerment that I love to share with others. To watch a blank page, a simple idea, turn into a bold expression of one’s business is awe-inspiring! Even in high school I knew I wanted to be involved with businesses — small businesses hold a special place in my heart, with my parents being owners — so I began designing websites, business cards, really anything people would reach out to me for. My parents had me redesign their logo (about 50 times, which I don’t recommend, but you know parents — it’s hard to raise good ones that listen), folders, trade show booths, and their website. I created about a dozen sites for myself (also not recommended, but I’m picky, so they are never just right for me. Even now I’m re-doing my site...) I then went on to being accepted into a highly competitive program for college, where I learned from very well-versed professors giving me a leg-up on the less competitive art school graduates in the area. Thanks Prof! Working as a contract designer for a medical supply company pushed me to take absolutely crazy-technical products and display them in a provoking way. Agency life taught me that I can share a desk with my best friend and still not strangle her at the end of the day. Oh then there’s corporate life; where you learn to handle stress, deadlines, details, and micromanaging clients & team members — also without any strangling — and still try to flex your creative muscles. The perks of corporate designing are HUGE trade show booths, TONS of print products, unlimited pre-press experience, and SO MUCH DIGITAL design. Oh, and did I mention infinite revisions? To this day I still haven’t added hardly any of my corporate work to my personal portfolio as it’s just too much to digest and I don’t even know where to begin. But I digress. All this to say, I’ve tried lot’s of different work environments, but I still come back to working one-on-one with clients like my roots back in high school. I thrive on being able to personally field questions, interpret ideas, and develop designs. So slide on into my DMs so we can Refine your Ideas.
