Did Yahoo Buy Comcast Email?

No, Yahoo did not purchase Comcast's email service. Instead, Comcast is transitioning the management of its email platform to Yahoo Mail. As a result, Xfinity (Comcast) customers with ".net" email addresses will begin using Yahoo Mail—but their email addresses will remain the same.

Key Details About the Transition:
Comcast is migrating its email platform, not selling it:
Comcast is not selling its email service. They’re simply moving the backend email infrastructure to Yahoo Mail.

Your .net email address stays the same:
Customers will continue using their existing email addresses. The only change is that Yahoo Mail will now power the service.

Phased migration starting June 2025:
The transition will roll out gradually, beginning in June 2025 and continuing into 2026. Not all users will be moved at once.

No impact on other Comcast/Xfinity services:
This change only affects email. All other Comcast services (TV, internet, phone, etc.) remain unaffected.

What you need to do:
Customers don’t need to take any action until they receive a direct notification from Comcast with instructions for the switch.
