While the golf world was watching The Open this weekend, here's a bit of golf history that might surprise you.

The oldest golf museum in the world is not in Scotland. It's in Newport News, Virginia at the James River Country Club. Established 1932.

Back in the 1990s we designed and produced the renovated Golf Museum at James River Country Club. Now, we're back adding a new story to its walls.

This one belongs to Wynsol Spencer.

If you don't know the name, you should. He came to Newport News at age five and grew into one of the most dominant golfers Virginia has ever produced. Five state amateur championships. A run at the 1965 PGA Championship. One of only ten people ever inducted into both the Virginia Sports Hall of Fame and the Virginia Golf Hall of Fame.

His son sent us his father's articles, photographs, and trophies to build the exhibit case, and opening those boxes felt like being handed a life. My only wish is that we had more space, because the case can hold the trophies, but the full story could fill a room.

Someone trusts you with a legacy, and your job is to make sure it keeps speaking.

We were honored to have been a small part of history in the making. 🧵🇺🇸

Our team at Mellen Street Creative was proud to create and contribute a square to the Great American Birthday Quilt, now on view at the Muscarelle Museum of Art.

Unveiled on April 11, 2026 and measuring 500 feet long and 5 feet wide, the quilt features over 800 individual squares submitted by people from all 50 states to visually represent what they love most about America. ❤️🤍💙

Seeing this incredible work come together has been truly inspiring — congratulations to everyone who helped bring this remarkable project to life! 💚
