Ouachita Electric Cooperative and South Arkansas Telephone Company are pleased to announce the joint

10/28/2026

More than 90% of the world's internet traffic travels through underwater fiber cables.

Not satellites. Not copper. Glass on the ocean floor.

10/12/2026

Did you know that the longest fiber optic cable in the world stretches across the ocean floor and is about the width of a garden hose?

08/27/2026

Quick FYI
Our fiber lines are glass, not copper. Cutting them won’t get you any scrap money, it’ll just knock your neighbors offline! If you see anyone messing with our lines please give the local authorities a call.

Did you know the term “WiFi” doesn’t actually stand for anything?
It’s a brand name, like Kleenex or Band-aid!

08/11/2026

Did you know?
The internet we use today started with a single message sent between two computers in 1969.
Now fiber sends millions of messages in the blink of an eye.

Proud to be American. Proud to serve rural Arkansas.
Happy 4th of July🇺🇸

The glass inside fiber optic cables is thinner than a human hair, and it can carry millions of messages at once.

Fiber internet, explained in 3 sentences:

1. It sends information using light through glass threads.

2. Light is faster and more reliable than electricity or radio signals.

3. That means no buffering and no slow zones.

That’s it. No jargon. No fluff.

We’re bringing fiber to rural Arkansas — one home at a time.

We hope everyone stayed safe with the weather this weekend! If your power is restored but your internet isn’t back up please give us a call at 844-454-4272
