One reason I love designing books is that they can have a lasting impact for good. Here's the cover of a book I designed a few years ago and I just learned that the book is being used as an incentive to help support the fundraising campaign for PBS 13 while airing the documentary "Becoming Thurgood."

Good to know!

If you have ever wondered why typographical errors creep into your writing, no matter how diligent you are, you have a specific demon to blame. His name is Titivillus, and he is the “patron demon” of scribes. He first appeared in print in 1285. Not only does he introduce errors into an otherwise perfect manuscript, but he also notes when those of us who do public speaking stumble, mumble, or otherwise go astray in our speech. You’ll see him hovering around people who gossip, collecting the names of those who make errors. Naturally, he works on behalf of the Devil! And now you have someone to blame for those typos.

Another gratifying historical signage project. Thanks to the great people at Revolutionary Hastings historical society for the opportunity to work on this commemorative Purple Heart Village sign. If you are in Hastings-on-Hudson, New York check out the historical work they've completed over the past couple of years, pandemic or not!

Love seeing my design work out the in the world. The Red Jacket Shaft historical site was a wonderful local history project I was fortunate to work on.

Jeremiah was impressed by the scale of the Calumet & Hecla Mining Company's (C&H) impact on the nation while researching in Horace Stevens' "The Copper Handbook" in support of Calumet Township's interpretive wayside at Red Jacket Shaft.

In 1905 Stevens wrote that C&H had paid $92,850,000 in dividends, more than any other incorporated mining company.

This weekend marks the launch of the Battle of Edgar's Lane historic site. I am proud to have worked as the signage designer for this project with a great group of historians and photographers and editors. Wish I could be back in Hastings, New York for the grand unveiling but since I can't travel at the moment I thought I'd do my own little grand unveiling.

Whenever I think about retiring (ha, ha, ha) I get design projects for books like this and think well I guess I'm gonna keep going til I drop.
