Wiring in ceiling speakers in a new construction home.

This is a spec house in Brewster,MA thats a good example of how to wire for a music system while staying low budget and open concept so future buyers can decide what they want. Took only one day to finish because all we did is got the most common speaker locations mapped out and wired TO THE BASEMENT ONLY.

In my experience, these are the most common rooms to consider for in ceiling speakers:

-Kitchen, Master Bed, Master Bath, Deck/Back Yard, Main TV area (wall or ceiling Surround Speakers)

-Walk through each room and visualize how speakers might look aligned with the room's lighting and ceiling structures.

-Measure from the center of the light (closest to each speaker) to the nearby ceiling joists and make note. I like to write measurement on the wood and capture in a photo. This will help after sheet rock is up. Make sure and take several pictures of each location and different distances. This layout planning is the most important part, so don't rush.

-Run speaker wire in a zig zag for each speaker location and then run to the basement, leaving a coil of wire for future access.

This method works best with an open basement. Less labor spent planning the entire system design and instead just focuses on getting the hard part of the wiring done - think of anything that won't be accessible after the sheet rock goes up.
