Our recent cleanup and invasice species removal project at Kahuiki Village alongside IHS, The Institute for Human Services, Inc. with workers from both IHS and RYSE: Residential Youth Services & Empowerment utilizing the Socialwyze platform to earn much needed income was just incredible!

We removed several hundred pounds of debris from the shoreline, cut back and removed invasive plant species, and beautifed this awesome place that serves as prime example of what we can achieve to help our neighbors who are most in need but ready to begin their path toward upward mobility.

Thank you to our partners, donors, and EarthX for making days like this possible.

We love getting feedback like this from folks who have utilized Socialwyze to get back on their feet after unexpectedly hard times.

Did you know that the median amount of money that people get evicted for nationwide is just $686? But that on average, once someone falls into the 'cycle of poverty' that the avg cost per person to provide wrap-around services is $40,000?

We need on-demand, immediate income opportunites to perform environmental public benefit work so that when people face an unexpected medical bill or car repair when already living paycheck-to-paycheck that they don't face eviction and the downspiral that all too often follows.

Socialwyze is working tirelessly to prove this is possible. And with over 500 work days hosted in the past yeat alone for folks in need to get paid a livimg wage at the end of each day to plant trees, clean beaches and parks, and tend community gardens, we belive we are proving that we can make a difference for our neighbors, our communities, and our planet.

Thanks to everyone who has supported our dream and the dreams of those we've been honored to help along the way.

Did you know that there were 4,448 people experiencing homelessness on Oahu as of Jan 22nd, 2020?

What may surprise many is that the most commonly self-reported cause of homelessness is financial or employment related and not drug addiction, mental health issues, or other factors.

Here are the stats:

*17% unable to pay rent
*15% loss of job
*12% loss of money

Total: 44% of people experiencing homeless are in their circumstances because of financial hardship.

Many of these folks want nothing more than to get back to work and rebuild their lives through the dignity of their own labor. BUT, they NEED transitional barrier-free job opportunities.

What better way than to provide immediate low barrier income opportunities to do public benefit work?

At Socialwyze that is what we are constantly working to continue to provide and achieve.

An amazing beach cleanup with folks today from RYSE: Residential Youth Services & Empowermenti and IHS, The Institute for Human Services, Inc. at Kalama Beach Park in Kailua, Hawaii.

So great meeting and working with these great young folks to improve the health of our marine ecosystem while at the same time creating much needed transitional, barrier-free work opportunities for folks in need.

A huge shoutout and tons of gratitude to RYSE and IHS for their partnership and to our cleanup sponsor EarthX, as well as our generous donors both large and small, who continue to contribute to make this great and much needed work possible.

A special shoutout also to Socialwyze's Hawaii point person Al Smith for his hard work in making events like this happen.

Such an absolute blessing to be able to partner with RYSE and work with young people today cleaning the beach at Kalamas on windward Oahu.

Not only were we able to remove a ton of plastic, a rusty tire, and an unusual amount of nails and tent pegs from the beach, we were also able to pay these young folks in need $20/hr thanks to !

By providing immediate income opporturtuities to folks in need to perform environmental benefit work, we believe we are supporting a healthy community, healthy people, and a healthy planet.

And many thanks to all of our very generous donors for making work events like this possible!

We are so excited to see how we can continue to grow this great program in the weeks and months ahead!

It's so rewarding to receive feedback like this from folks about how much the opportunity to perform environmental benefit work at a living wage has helped our Socialwyze workers to transition from homelessness, recovery, or reentry to full time employment, housing, and to get back on their feet.

We believe it is critical that we as a society create immediate income opportunities for people in need as a means to avoid eviction, afford temporary or transitional housing, and provide a basis for upward mobility.

We love getting feedback like this from our Socialwyze workers:

"Socialwyze has helped me live out my wildest dreams by being out in the community via health fairs, assisting in tree watering and nursery tasks, starting gardens, and interacting in beautification of school parks and play areas." - Zondria

Socialwyze had the incredible honor and opportunity to present our solution to help put people experiencing homelessness or recovery back to work on environmental public benefit projects today at the Oklahoma State Legislature.

Many thanks to State Representative Mickey Dollens (HD-93) for sponsoring the interim study and for the invitation to have our CEO and Founder Cody Merrill in to speak today to the Committee.

We are beyond excited and inspired to get to work to help our neighbors in Oklahoma that need the opportunities the most to perform public benefit work at a living wage to help them get back on their feet and begin their upward mobility journey.

Thanks to everyone who attended and to those who dialed in for the lively and fascinating Q&A.
