Sometimes, we get lost in the sexy and allure of technology, automation, software, and social media. The fact remains, decision making individuals in any organization are super busy, they don't have time to play around on social media answering messages.

Yes, you can target 1000s of people with a few clicks, but how many of those 1000s are you making contact with, having conversations with, and building relationships with, while helping them solve their challenges?
Humans still buy from humans they know like and trust, not the 10,000th person spamming their inbox.
