Mays Mission for the Handicapped, Inc. Dedicated to serving people with disabilities and enhancing their quality of life.

For over 50 years, Mays Mission for the Handicapped has been providing opportunities to people with disabilities. We are a religious, charitable, nondenominational, nonprofit organization dedicated to assisting the physically and spiritually disabled and promoting awareness of the potential of individuals with disabilities. Being a 501(c)(3), we are supported through charitable contributions from

our faithful and loyal supporters. Because of the generous nature of our donors, we are able to provide services like On-The-Job training, scholarships, camperships, referral services, emergency monetary assistance, awareness education, and goodwill.

🤝 Stronger Together!

Great things happen when people work together!

At Mays Mission, our on-the-job training program gives individuals with disabilities the opportunity to build valuable job skills, gain confidence, and experience the importance of being part of a team.

Every task completed, every skill learned, and every helping hand reminds us that teamwork isn’t about everyone having the same abilities—it’s about everyone bringing their abilities to the table.

When we encourage one another and work toward a common goal, we can accomplish so much more together. đź’™

That’s Ability in Action—and it happens every day at Mays Mission.

“It’s ability, not disability, that counts!” — E.W. Mays

❤️ THE SPIRIT OF GIVING ❤️

Sometimes the greatest gift we can give is simply our time, our talents, and a willingness to help.

Whether it’s visiting someone who is lonely, helping a neighbor, volunteering at a local organization, supporting people with disabilities, or simply sharing a little kindness—each of us has an ability we can use to make a difference.

That’s what the Spirit of Giving is all about. 💙

Our latest Mays Mission blog shares simple ideas for volunteering and reminds us that you don’t need a lot of money or spare time to have an impact. Sometimes, all it takes is a willing heart.

As our founder, E.W. Mays, always reminded us:

“It’s ability, not disability, that counts!”

Let’s put our abilities into action and make our communities a little brighter—one act of kindness at a time. ❤️

Here at Mays Mission we believe every person deserves the opportunity to discover their abilities, pursue their dreams, and live with dignity.

Our founder E.W. Mays said it all way back in 1969 when he said: "It's Ability, Not Disability, that counts!"

🇺🇸 Before there was a mission, there was a man with a vision.

More than 50 years ago, World War II veteran E.W. Mays transformed his own experience of becoming a double amputee into a lifelong mission of hope, opportunity, and service.

He believed every person deserved to be seen for their potential—not their limitations—and in 1969, he shared the words that continue to inspire us today:

"It's Ability, Not Disability, that counts!"

That simple message became the foundation of Mays Mission for the Handicapped and continues to guide everything we do—from scholarships and summer camps to job training and advocacy.

We've shared the remarkable story of E.W. Mays and the legacy that continues to change lives every day.

If E.W. Mays' story inspires you, please consider sharing it. Together, we can continue spreading his message that ability deserves opportunity.

💙 Because some legacies aren't measured by what we leave behind—but by the lives we continue to change.

For over 50 years, Mays Mission has believed that ability deserves opportunity.
