STORYTIME
Swipe to read just a little bit of what inspired our rebrand! It’s been a lot of work, and at one point I questioned if we even should change the name. But it all comes back to that brand strategy that you know I’m so passionate about, and we have a much bigger vision for this business now, which goes far beyond me. I’m so proud of everything that I learned and achieved while operating as a Mangum Design Co. and I’m excited to see where this next chapter takes us!

Fun fact - your experiences in your life have prepared you for this exact moment. Let me explain...

I am not trained as a graphic designer. Sure, I know how to use the fancy design programs and I've invested a lot into my own design education. But my college degree is in landscape architecture - designing places and spaces, not logos!

But that landscape design training is what has helped me find success in graphic design. I focus on creating experiences - both for my clients and to help *others* feel a certain way when they discover a business. I look at design differently than others that may have gone through a design program, and that's what makes me the right designer for some people, where others benefit from working with someone trained through a graphic design program.

Long story long - there is no perfect path to where you want to go and not necessarily one way is better than another. No education is wasted! No skills are a loss. Everything you've worked at in your life can help you be the best version of yourself at this *exact* moment. So OWN the experience you have, your education, your work experience. It's gotten you this far and is worth celebrating!

Also, shoutout to for this photo - not the most comfortable way to sit on stairs but so worth the end result. Just like your efforts will be worth it in the end!

How do you use color to combine soothing and relaxing, with energizing and optimistic? This was my task with Uda Bomb's branding. They create a bath bomb product that also includes an affirmation with every bomb, so that you not only get some physical care but mental love as well. By using the calmer purple tones and the pale colors of ballet and parmesan, you get that relaxing, regal, luxurious feel. Add in the bright magenta and honey colors and you feel reenergized and excited by the fun playfulness they bring to the palette. Do you think we achieved the desired effect with this palette? Uda Bomb knows one important fact: our mental health and physical health directly affect each other. So they found a way to bring them together - through self care and mindset. With every bath bomb, you receive a fun, colorful card that has an affirmation on it. So not only are you soaking in soothing, aromatic bliss but your mind will be getting some love too! Add some candles and your favorite music and you have a recipe for the most relaxing night ever.

This brand that's focused on empowering women and helping them realize their true inner power will be lighting up a wall with physical electric power. I'm dying over this color palette for ! Most of my branding clients lean towards a more grounded, earthy color palette, so it was so much fun creating this color scheme. This palette gives me fresh, fun feminine vibes - full of optimism, energy and light and ready for summer. When you think of the name Empowered, it seems to radiate a hint of energy and boldness, and this palette has those same vibes. What do you think? Are you a fan of these bright, bold colors? Mythbusting time: Your logo needs to explain your business.

FALSE. Your logo should mirror the experience or style your business creates for clients. Your logo is one way of identifying your business, just like we have thumbprints. To expect someone to know everything about you from your thumbprint is just silly, right? Same with your brand.

The experience and services you provide tell your clients so much more than any image could. Your logo should do just 2 things:

1. Show the name of your business in a clear and legible way so it's easy to read at a range of scales.
2. Have the same overall feel or style as your business - ex. masculine or feminine, bold or mellow, etc.

By hearing the name of your business, navigating your website or scrolling your feed, they should be able to figure out exactly what you do by the rest of the content your business creates.
