Metal prints close commercial clients. But only if you show them the right image on the right finish in the proposal.

Modern interiors need high contrast. Corporate lobbies, medical offices, contemporary homes. They want bold, clean, architectural. That is where metal belongs. White Gloss for saturated color and punch. Matte White when the space has direct light and you need zero reflection. Clear Gloss for black and white work where you want the aluminum showing through the shadows.

But if the image has subtle shadow detail or low key tonality, metal is the wrong call. The substrate eats delicate gradients. Fine art paper or canvas will hold what metal cannot. Knowing when to recommend against metal is how you stay credible.

Price metal as a premium tier. Not because it costs more to produce. Because it fits a specific use case and solves a specific problem for a specific client type. Corporate clients buying for office spaces understand finish specifications and substrate reasoning. That is how you justify the rate.

ChromaLuxe aluminum panels printed on the Epson F6470 using dye sublimation inks in Henderson, Nevada. Sizes available up to 44 by 96 inches. Five finishes including outdoor rated White Gloss EXT. Order anytime at simplycolorlab.com.

Metal prints glow. That's the strength and the problem. If your file lives in the shadows, metal is the wrong choice.

Dye sublimation infuses the image into the ChromaLuxe coating. Light bounces off the aluminum base underneath. That's where the depth comes from. The panel itself becomes part of the image structure. But that aluminum reflectance lifts shadow detail whether you want it to or not.

Gloss finishes amplify this. The coating is smooth and reflective. Highlights pop. Midtones shimmer. But crushed blacks open up. Subtle shadow gradients flatten. If you shot a moody portrait with intentional underexposure, gloss metal will fight you. The substrate is working against the file.

Matte finishes reduce the effect but don't eliminate it. The aluminum still reflects. The glow is softer but it's still there. You gain some shadow retention but you lose the signature metal luminance.

When metal works: high contrast black and white, backlit scenes, bright commercial interiors, anything where you want that lifted luminance. Clear finishes on high contrast files let the aluminum show through transparent areas for a true metallic effect.

When it doesn't: low key portraiture, film noir lighting, anything where shadow detail carries the emotion. If the file depends on subtle tonal shifts in the bottom two stops, metal will compress them.

We print metal on the Epson F6470 with dye sublimation inks onto ChromaLuxe panels. Five finishes available. Sizes from 4 by 4 inches up to 44 by 96 inches custom. Production runs 2 to 3 business days. But if your file needs the shadows to stay down, choose fine art paper or canvas instead. Match the substrate to the file, not the other way around.

The image transfers into the aluminum panel at 380 degrees. You can smell it before you see it.

Most labs run one or two printers and force every product through the same machine. We built a three printer system so nothing compromises for another. The Epson F6470 runs dye sublimation inks in a six color configuration with light cyan and light magenta. It prints onto ChromaLuxe panels only. Canvas never touches this machine. Fine art paper never sees this ink chemistry.

ChromaLuxe aluminum in five finishes. White Gloss for saturated color work. Matte White for interiors where glare matters. Clear Gloss when you want the metal showing through in high contrast black and white compositions. Matte Clear for the same metallic effect without reflection. White Gloss EXT when the piece hangs outside and needs to hold up to five years of direct sunlight without noticeable fading.

Custom sizes from four by four inches up to 44 by 96 inches. The F6470 print width allows it. Every panel is hand inspected before it ships. Production runs two to three business days.

Every order is touched by a person in our Henderson facility.

The easiest sale is the one where the client sees the whole wall before they decide.

Canvas Clusters let you sell the entire design in the session. Not piece by piece. Not a follow-up email three weeks later. Right there, when the images are fresh.

Thirteen layouts. Wall space from 20 by 20 inches to 76 by 30 inches. Every cluster comes with a Photoshop sizing template so you can drop the session images in and show the client exactly what goes home.

One decision. One invoice. One install.

Traditional clusters use 1.5 inch depth. The 3D clusters are available in three depths: 0.75, 1.5, and 2 inches. Gloss or Satin finish. Natural wrap, solid color, or digital stretch borders to match your vision.

Canvas Clusters are always 20 percent off individual canvas pricing. Production is three business days once the files are in.

Every canvas is hand-stretched on hardwood frames we make ourselves in Henderson, Nevada. Printed on the Epson SureColor S80600 with UltraChrome GS3 resin inks. 100+ years under standard display conditions.

Order anytime at simplycolorlab.com.

Most photographers pick cluster images one at a time. The wall reads them as a set.

The design might look balanced in the template. Five frames, staggered heights, good negative space. But if the color temperature shifts from warm sunset to cool window light halfway across, the eye never settles. The cluster competes with itself.

What holds a cluster together is consistency before composition. Color temperature within 200 Kelvin. Similar contrast ratios. Horizon lines that align or intentionally break. The frames become one visual statement instead of five separate prints sharing a wall.

Start with the anchor image. The largest piece in the layout sets the tonal range for the rest. Then match the supporting images to that reference. Not identical subjects, but consistent light quality. If the anchor is soft overcast, the others follow. If it is hard side light, everything else respects that direction.

Thirteen cluster designs available at Simply Color Lab. Wall space ranges from 20 by 20 inches to 76 by 30 inches. Every cluster includes a downloadable Photoshop sizing template so you build the full design before you upload. Canvas Clusters are always 20 percent off regular individual canvas pricing.

We hand-stretch thirteen canvases for a C13 cluster in the same afternoon so the tension matches across the whole wall.

Thirteen separate frames. Thirteen separate wraps. All built in-house on hardwood frames we make ourselves. The person stretching canvas number one is the same person stretching canvas number thirteen, using the same tools, the same rhythm, the same pull.

That consistency matters when the cluster goes up. Frames that match in finish. Wraps that hold the same tautness. Borders that align because they were all printed on the same Epson SureColor S80600 with the same UltraChrome GS3 resin ink profile.

Canvas Clusters are available in thirteen designs, ranging from 20 by 20 inches to 76 by 30 inches of wall space. Each includes a downloadable Photoshop template. Traditional clusters use 1.5 inch depth. Exclusive 3D clusters are available in three depths: 0.75, 1.5, and 2 inches. Border options match Canvas Gallery Wraps: natural wrap, solid color, or digital stretch.

Canvas Clusters are always 20 percent off regular individual canvas pricing. Production is three business days. Every order is hand-inspected before it ships.

Not every session needs a product upgrade. But when a client wants something their kids will fight over, lead with wood.

Heritage Wood prints are hand-sanded white birch with rounded corners. The paper is mounted directly to the substrate, UV laminated, and finished by hand in Henderson, Nevada. No frame. No glass. Just the image on wood with a keyhole hanger on back.

Which images belong here: portraits where the subject is the heirloom. Family groups. Generational shots. Anything a client describes as "for the wall above the piano" or "something they'll have forever."

Which do not: images where detail in shadow matters more than warmth. High-key fashion. Anything a client wants to swap out seasonally.

In the session: when you hear the word "legacy" or "grandkids," you have an opening. Position Heritage Wood as the tier above paper, below acrylic. It closes at a different price point because it is a different object. Artisan finish. Hand-touched. Built to last.

The handmade quality is visible in every corner. Clients feel the difference when they pick it up. That tactile moment is where the referral starts.

Wood changes color. Not every image belongs on it. Here's which ones do.

Heritage Wood is fine art paper mounted directly to white birch. The wood base is completely covered, so no grain shows through. But the surface still warms the image compared to paper alone.

Earth tones deepen. Skin tones gain warmth. Greens shift slightly toward amber. If your image relies on cool blues or precise neutrals, that shift can work against you.

Best subjects: portraits with warm light, landscapes with existing golden hour color, anything where organic texture supports the story. Less ideal: product work that needs color accuracy, architecture that depends on cool grays, portraits shot in clinical white light.

The Heirloom finish uses Fine Art Linen, Smooth Matte, or Photo Rag paper. It's UV laminated, hand mounted, and hand sanded with rounded corners and beveled front edges. The Legacy finish uses Fine Art Luster paper, UV laminated and hand mounted with rounded corners and straight edges. Both are mounted on white birch.

Sizes start at five by seven inches and go up to forty seven by forty seven. Available in square, rectangle, circle, hexagon, and oval shapes. Every print includes a keyhole hanger.

Production is four to five business days in our Henderson facility. Files are printed as provided. We do not perform automatic color correction. Paid correction is available at one hundred fifty dollars per hour if you need it.

The corners take longer than the rest of the print combined. We hand-sand every edge until the wood rounds smooth.

Heritage Wood prints are built on three-quarter inch white birch. Your Fine Art paper is mounted directly to the wood substrate. We UV laminate the surface for durability. Then the hand work begins.

Every corner is hand-sanded until it rounds. On the Heirloom finish, we also hand-bevel the front edges. On Legacy, the front edge stays straight but the corners still get rounded by hand. The sanding happens in Henderson at our facility on East Dale Avenue. No automation. No router jig. Just sandpaper and time.

The birch substrate does not show through. What you see is your image on Fine Art Linen, Smooth Matte, Photo Rag, or Fine Art Luster paper depending on which finish you order. The wood is structural. The rounded corner is what makes it feel handmade when a client picks it up.

Keyhole hanger comes standard. Rustic twine hanger available at no extra charge if you prefer that look. Sizes start at five by seven inches and go up to forty-seven by forty-seven. Available in square, rectangle, circle, hexagon, and oval shapes.

Every order is hand-inspected before it ships.

Not every portrait belongs on the same paper. The surface you pick changes what the client sees and what they pay.

When you're talking through wall art options after a session, most clients default to what they know: canvas or maybe metal. But the photographers who close premium fine art sales? They walk clients through paper choice the same way a tailor talks through fabric.

Here's the structure. Show three versions of the same image printed on different surfaces. Photo Rag for a soft matte cotton finish that feels like museum work. Baryta for high gloss with deep shadow detail that reads like classic darkroom prints. Luster for clients who want color density but no fingerprint glare.

The client picks the surface that matches how they see the image. You're not upselling. You're guiding. And the print they choose at that level justifies the price because they made the call.

Every Fine Art Paper Print we produce ships from Henderson on the Epson P20570 with UltraChrome PRO12 pigment inks. Eleven paper options including seven Hahnemuhle fine art substrates and traditional photo papers. Custom sizes up to sixty inches wide. Prints rated up to two hundred years color on premium fine art papers under standard display conditions.
