✍️ Good to Know: Why Fonts Matter (More Than You Think)

You picked the perfect font. It’s bold. It’s classy. It’s exactly the vibe.

But if you send your file without embedding or outlining the fonts… and we don’t have that font installed… suddenly your masterpiece could default to Times New Roman’s awkward, less-cool cousin. 🥸

Here’s how to avoid the font drama:
✔️ Embed your fonts in a PDF
✔️ Or outline/create curves before sending

Why? Because once fonts are outlined, they turn into shapes — and shapes don’t get stage fright, change their mind, or show up in cargo shorts.

No surprises. No awkward substitutions. Your design stays exactly how you intended — and everyone looks like a pro. 😎

🧠Print Myth: “If it looks good on my phone, it’ll print perfectly.”

We love the optimism. Truly. 😄

But your phone is basically a tiny TV studio — backlit, glowing, and cranked up to “dramatic.” Paper? Paper is more of a “natural daylight, no special effects” kind of vibe.

That super-bright, eye-popping color on your screen might print a little more “I woke up like this.”

If color really matters (especially brand colors), ask for a printed proof first.

• Extra hours when the 1st of the month crashes the weekend party
• Earlier start times at the beginning of each month

• Running mail processing machines
• Moving trays, carts & mail cages
• Keeping everything USPS-compliant and on point
• No experience necessary, we'll train you!
• Potential for driving delivery vehicle, no CDL needed

🎯 Good to Know: Safe Margins Matter

Keep important text and logos at least ¼ inch from the edge.

Printers are precise — but paper can shift ever so slightly during trimming. And that tiny shift is all it takes for your phone number to become… abstract art.

Safe margins are like personal space for your design. Give it a little breathing room so nothing important ends up living dangerously on the edge.

Because “Call us at 207-69” is very on the edge

🖋 Good to Know: Vector vs. Raster

Not all files are created equal

✔️ Vector files (AI, EPS, SVG, PDF) are based on mathematical equations, meaning they'll scale infinitely without losing quality. Billboard? No problem. Tiny sticker? Still perfect. Math never gets blurry.

❌ Raster images (JPG, PNG) are made of pixels — tiny little colored squares. Enlarge them too much and suddenly your crisp logo turns into a Minecraft version of itself.

Need your logo on a banner the size of a building? Vector is your best friend. Pixels are great… until they start showing off.

Founded in honor of Brady, who bravely fought cancer at just 14 years old, The Brady Nickerson Foundation is dedicated to raising funds for pediatric cancer treatment and supporting families facing the unimaginable. For 7yrs, this event has brought the community together to make a real difference in the lives of children and families battling cancer — proving that a little cold weather is no match for a warm-hearted cause.

Whether you’re an experienced angler or someone who just comes for the snacks and good company, we encourage everyone to come out, participate, and show your support. Every ticket, every donation, and every shared post helps continue Brady’s legacy of strength, hope, and community.

🎲 Blast from Our Past 📺

WABI TV5 stopped by to share the story of Ninestones, a board game our late president, Ed Armstrong, created in 1981 and once sold at LaVerdiere’s.

While expanding warehouse space, we brought down two full pallets of the game - 700 in total! - from deep storage.

Now they’re being donated to local schools and charities like Ronald McDonald House Charities of Maine and The Salvation Army Bangor Citadel Corps

From the warehouse to the community—some games are timeless. From all of us at Snowman's - Merry Christmas!🎄🎁
