Our Central Office (CO), in the City of Iroquois had quite the backdrop this weekend. Thanks to our CSR Manager, Andrea, for capturing this great photo!

You may have seen one of these little buildings in your community before and wondered what they are.

In the broadband world, CO stands for Central Office — not a corporate office, but a local network hub. Our COs house the behind-the-scenes equipment that helps deliver internet and phone service to homes, farms, and businesses in the surrounding area.

Valley FiberCom has 17 CO buildings across our service areas in north and central eastern South Dakota, including the COs located at our office buildings. They also serve as a home base for some of our technicians who work with customers in those specific areas.

Think of them as important connection points in our fiber network, helping keep each community connected to the larger Valley FiberCom system. 📶

☀️Summer Saturdays at Valley FiberCom are for community events!

Today in Volga, we served up our annual root beer floats for Volga Old Timers Day. Always a hit, rain or shine!

We also had fun driving through the parade and throwing candy for Old Settlers Day in De Smet, South Dakota!

Both communities have a lot more events planned for tonight and tomorrow, so be sure to check it out if you’re in the area.

More parades and community events to come, and we can’t wait!

🎉 Employee Anniversaries — Valley Telecommunications & Valley FiberCom

As we wrap up the month of May, we’re excited to recognize a few team members who show up every day to serve our customers and keep our communities connected. Their dedication, expertise, and behind-the-scenes work truly make a difference, and we’re grateful to have them on the Valley team. 💚💙

This month, we asked: “What part of your day-to-day work at Valley makes you feel like you’re making a difference?”

🛜 Mike (Network Technician • Volga Office) — 5 Years of Service
Answer: “It’s the small wins every day: fixing a trouble ticket, helping a device stay connected, or getting someone on fiber for the first time and knowing our local people are taken care of.”

📣 Jenna (Marketing Specialist • Volga Office) — 1 Year of Service
Answer: “I love turning what we do into a story people can connect with, especially when it helps someone understand the value of fiber internet and how it can change what’s possible for their home or business.”

🧰 Brandon (Outside Plant Technician • Ipswich Office) — 8 Years of Service
Answer: “One of the most rewarding parts of my day-to-day work at Valley is the relationships we build with our customers. Our focus is on serving our members and communities—and over time that trust grows, so customers feel like more than just a number.”

🔧 Jaxon (Network Technician • Herreid Office) — 2 Years of Service
Answer: “Knowing that I can fix problems and keep things running smoothly for our customers.”

📊 Charlene (Accounting Assistant • Herreid Office) — 3 Years of Service
Answer: “I feel like I make the biggest difference by helping keep things accurate, organized, and moving forward behind the scenes - catching details, solving problems, and helping everything run smoothly so issues are avoided later.”

Help us celebrate these milestones and show your support in the comments! 🎉
