A friendly reminder for Windows 7 users out there...January 14, 2020 Microsoft will end support for Windows 7.

What does this mean? The largest effect is having no more security patches. If a vulnerability is discovered in Windows 7, there will be no generally available patches or updates created to address it.

What can you do about it? You could simply disconnect from the internet (no more Facebook, email, cute cat pictures, and town politics for you!) and refrain from plugging in anything with any type of data storage that could be compromised. Or, you could stop by E-Motion Computer Services. We are happy to do a free consultation to determine if your existing machine can be upgraded, what is necessary to do so, or what options there are to purchase a new machine with Windows 10 already installed. We cover things like current storage, memory, and age of the machine, vs. the cost of purchasing a new machine and getting it set up with your programs, data, and peripherals.

'Twas the day after Christmas and all through the house, there was the mad sound of keyboard clicking and tapping of mouse.

All those things must be returned to the store-too big, too small, Geeze-we don’t need one MORE!

All of a sudden, there arises such a clatter...the sound of dishes being put away? The house being cleaned up? No...it’s the sound of a dying hard drive platter!

Perhaps it’s the epic struggle of setting up new tech toys, that will forever be told…
The manuals make no sense, and the family has left with their goodies, and their genius 12 year old!

We understand that technology can be great fun:
-where is Santa now (unless multiple sources have him in different places all at once)?
-“little widget on the shelf...play something festive!” (whilst listening in to determine what to market to me later)
-and my personal favorite...big corporation with ties to all manufacturers, vendors, and distributors-send me something with the speed of sound as though your little elves were hiding in the bushes ready to place it on my door step.

All of this is wonderful, when the technology does what we want, when we want. But alas, this is not always the case! If you find that your holiday cheer is running out at the speed of spent eggnog, please, for the love of Christ-mas! Call E-Motion Computer Services, Inc.

We can figure out getting the smart TV connected, the new parental controls setup, and all your data off the computer that has a pull starter and dims the lights when on, to the new sleek item with a fruit on it.

Some of you may be aware that we here at E-Motion Computer Services, Inc. have a soft spot for our mascot. He likes to curl up on his soft bed in the corner. Or on the soft rug in the office. Or the soft rug in the other office. You get the idea.

Based on the picture, he appears to be willing to finally help around here. As such, if you have any questions about tech toys (what to buy, what goes with what), how to set them up, or you need to fix last years items to be able to buy this years widgets, feel free to stop by or give us a call!

E-Motion Computer Services, Inc. has moved!
Our new address is 123 Washington Street, suite 1 in Holliston MA. We are right up the hill from Creative Playthings on your way to Sherborn, route 16 (the big white building that used to be AmPrint).

While we're still in the process of completing the build out (see pictures for the "before" shots. We've traded the neon green and blue in favor of the usual E-MCS colors), we have officially left our old space. The new space has a bigger parking lot-or perhaps a parking lot, a bit more space for doing business, no leaky roof, and no HVAC problems! All good things to do great work for great clients!

We hope you will pardon our construction and boxes as we complete settling in, and stop by to visit with any computer needs. If you prefer, you can still call 508-429-3210.

Hello folks. I very rarely post anything that is blatantly self-serving (I try to sneak it in as a little advertisement at the end of something beneficial for the world...hopefully). In this case, I am posting on behalf of my son and his Cub Scout troop. They are doing their annual Christmas wreath and Hanukkah candles sale.

It supports the troop doing fun things and staying out of trouble. Good wholesome fun. If you haven't already purchased one, please consider doing so!

They are $12 for the wreath, and $12 for 45 candles in a box. They will be delivered the weekend after Thanksgiving.

We are wrapping up sales by tomorrow, so this is a last minute attempt to help him reach his goal of selling 50 more wreaths today (he is a real go-getter!)

And just to be clear on who this helps out, I have included a picture of an actual Cub Scout. From the Holliston den. He also happens to be the lad who has the dubious distinction of being my son. :)

As a tech guy, I think about things from a tech perspective...Does anyone else find it interesting that in the past, people won the election based on technology (think looking better than your opponent on TV), and yet now, AFTER the election, you could be discredited based on the idea that the technology was hacked? Creepier still, I can use technology to reach millions of people in mere seconds, and create "fake news" and have many of those people believe it.

Blasphemous though it may be, here goes:

Ah! The good old days when you were there, you saw it, you confirmed it by research (talking to eye witnesses who confirmed it), you checked your facts and it was true! Now-"I saw this thing a guy did on Youtube, shared on Facebook, by a cousin's girlfriend." It must be true!

Politics are messy to be sure, but it's fascinating how much more so they are, when it gets harder and harder to know what are facts, vs. vehement posters online.

Thankfully, business is doing well. I do not get the opportunity near as much as I would like to do the following, but I highly recommend it for the sake of truth, justice, and the American way...go outside. Cold, wet, rainy, whatever the effects are of whatever your belief is about the climate and the politicians who did it to (or for) us, go outside and discover a truth that wasn't put on a screen to tell you so! Rather than mud slinging, play in the mud. Rather than bruised egos, get bruised knees. Crushing retorts made behind a keyboard shield? How about crushing that exercise routine? As you may know from posts past, we get cookies around here from AWESOME clients...I personally need more crushing of my exercise routine.

My hope is that there are already enough of you who won't see this, because you're already out there...If not, the truth as I know it is that computers can be fixed most of the time. If you must have yours functioning well to seek the truth, we at E-Motion Computer Services, Inc. will make the ultimate sacrifice. We'll stay inside and fix it for you. :)

Family owned business+Mother's Day+great friends=...a trip to Vermont! This weekend we went to see Ian Ethan Case - Open Land Music. E-Motion Computer Services, Inc. has had the VERY special honor to do some work for this brilliant musician. Watching a video of him tells a pretty compelling story as to why you take any opportunity to go witness the magic. However, it does not always reveal how amazing both Ian and his wife Stephanie are! Hours on the road, an amazing show (with Stephanie masterfully covering the electronics), and still taking time to make everyone who wanted to speak with them, feel as though they are a cherished part of the experience.

When our business grows up, we hope we can be just as dedicated, kind, and wonderful as these two!
