“Caregiver Burnout? Do These 5 Things Today”

“Caregivers are Googling this every day: ‘Why am I so exhausted, overwhelmed, and burned out?’ And friend, it’s not because you’re weak. It’s because caregiving is real work.”

Step 1: Name the problem
“If you’re tired, irritated, isolated, or financially stressed, you may be experiencing caregiver burnout. This is one of the most common caregiver challenges.”

Step 2: Write down what you actually do
“For the next 24 hours, list every caregiving task: bathing, meals, transportation, medication reminders, appointments, cleaning, overnight care — all of it.”

Step 3: Ask for help with proof
“Don’t just say, ‘I need help.’ Say, ‘I’m doing 37 hours of care this week. Can you take meals on Tuesday or transportation on Friday?’”

Step 4: Look for paid caregiver programs
“Search: ‘Medicaid paid family caregiver program in [your state].’ Many states have Medicaid programs that may allow approved family members to be paid caregivers, depending on eligibility.”

Step 5: Call your local aging or disability office
“Ask them: ‘Does my state offer self-directed care, consumer-directed care, respite care, or paid family caregiver options?’ Those words matter.”

“You don’t have to burn out in silence. Comment PAID CARE and I’ll send you the first place to start.”

Caregiver burnout is real — and so is the financial pressure. Start by documenting what you do, then check whether your state offers Medicaid-paid family caregiver options.
