Sometimes the hardest thing to modernize is the product that already works. 🌱

For over a decade, Home Outside's Yard Planner app made landscape design easy for anyone: 700+ hand-drawn elements, tap-and-drag tools, no CAD needed.
It worked.

But founder Julie Moir Messervy's vision had outgrown what 2D could show. She wanted something more immersive, without losing the artistry that made Home Outside what it was.

So her designers and our engineers worked side by side until we could think in her design language, not just translate it.

The result?

An app where you build your garden in 3D, then walk a digital twin of your own property in AR, seeing plants at full maturity before anything goes in the ground. 🌳

If you could rebuild one product you've outgrown without losing what made it great, which would it be? 💬

Staying current in embedded systems, edge AI, and connected devices is hard when most of what's out there is noise.

Edge of Tech cuts through it. Every month, 40,000+ engineers and product leaders get the real signal: what teams are actually building and how they're solving hard problems.

Our newest issue is dropping this week!

New episode of Forging the Future is out and this conversation with Ben Tan from Intel does not disappoint.👏

Edge AI, lights-out manufacturing, why bigger models aren't always better, and the organizational mistakes that sink most AI initiatives before they get off the ground.

Good conversation worth your time.

Most engineering problems get solved by working within the constraints. This one got solved by questioning whether the constraint had to exist at all.

In this clip from Forging the Future, David Reid from NOV walks through the moment his team stopped asking "how do we build electronics that survive extreme heat?" and started asking "what if it just wasn't that hot?"

The answer ended up fixing two problems at once.

We were asked to build an ADAS system for an electric vehicle that could process 15 HD cameras simultaneously in real time. After checking the market for existing hardware, the best option handled four cameras.

Four. We wanted fifteen.

So we built it ourselves. A vehicle that can see everything around it and actually react. Not bad for a problem that apparently nobody had solved yet.

Last week at our European HQ in Vilnius we hosted our Summer Jam party with Teqies from Lithuania, Poland, and beyond. We also had one of our favorite client's Halo Collar join us.

Both the US and Lithuanian members of the leadership were glad to get some face time with the team and hold a productive strategy meeting.

Thank you to all our teams in Houston, Munich, Vilnius, Guadalajara, and Warsaw who make it happen every day! 🌎

Choosing an IoT development partner goes well beyond technical credentials. Scalability, security, project communication, and post-launch support all factor in, and skipping any one of them can cost you later.

Here are seven things to look for before you sign. Worth a read if you're early in the vendor evaluation process. ⬇️

Good robotics development is a hardware problem, a software problem, and an integration problem, often at the same time. Most projects don't fail on the spec. They fail in the gaps between teams.

A junior engineer fails slowly. A machine fails in a microsecond. ⚡

Here’s Chris Howard and Sergi Mansilla from Edge Impulse on what that means for AI at scale.

We delivered a full Matter-native smart home ecosystem in 21 days, including a custom iOS app, a Thread Border Router we engineered from scratch, and ESP32 firmware for secure local control.

No cloud dependency, and the architecture scales to any device category.
