Let’s be real, shopping small DOES take extra time and/or planning.

But obviously we know it is so worth it 🙌🏼

If you’re a small business, here are some things you can do to help your customers out:

👉🏼 Remind customers of cut-off dates to receive online orders in time for Christmas

👉🏼 Encourage in-store shopping (including pop-ups)

👉🏼 Share gift guides of your products so customers can easily picture who it may be a good gift for.

One quick tip that'll help you make more sales with email?

Add a menu to your email campaigns.

It may sound obvious, but I can't even begin to tell you how much it has helped my clients sell more.

Because guess what? Only about half of sales (if that!) are related to the content in the email campaign—the rest come from clicking on menu links and browsing other items on your site.

The best part about this tip—you only have to set it up once!

All you need to do?

☝🏻 Create an email template in your platform (Klaviyo,
Mailchimp, Flodesk, etc).

✌🏻 Add your logo and some of your top links (i.e. best sellers, new arrivals, sale). Hint: If you use Klaviyo, they have a handy "Header/Link Bar" section that makes this a breeze!

👏🏻 Save it and use it every time you're sending out an email.

BONUS TIP: Update your menu with any seasonal or relevant links (looking at you, Christmas).

Help I'm addicted to tips + tricks 🥺

Lol but really. I love to learn so I'm constantly watching/reading/listening to new things. But then... I wasn’t doing anything with it.

So I started a new rule: for every piece of educational content I consume, I have to create some kind of actionable step for it. For example:

👉 Writing down key points in my journal when listening to a podcast.

👉 List out the steps needed to actually DO whatever wonderful thing that is in one of the 348 saved posts chilling on Instagram.

👉 Spend 5-10 mins summarizing what I read so that I'm reframing it in my own words to make sure it's sunk in.

So if you've been binging business podcasts or your saved folder on Instagram never ends, pick a day this week to spend some time implementing what you've learned! We can do this 💪🏼

P.S. If you want to feel really organized with this, add tasks with links to whatever Project Management Software you use. It feels so good to have it all in one place and it's soo easy to reference!

Introducing the label for imperial coffee milk stout, The Piper is Down Stout 🍺

The name is a play on one of the lines from the ’93 cult classic So I Married an Axe Murderer.

The background is the Mackenzie tartan—an homage to the characters—and of course, the bagpipe was a given, helping to tell the joke even for those who aren’t familiar with the line.

This was one of my favorite can designs to work on. I loved the challenge of starting with a kitsch reference and creating a refined design that matched the brewery’s moody British style.

Every designer’s worst nightmare: I’m my own client 👀

Nah, it’s actually been great! I’ve been reading and working through Building a StoryBrand by Donald Miller and been doing a lot internal work to gain clarity about where I want The Borough to go.

Introducing the label for New Braunfels Brewing Company's Blonde Ale, New Blondefuls 🍺

As an homage to vintage postcards, a photograph of the original early 1900s brewery was overlayed over the beer name. We kept it feeling modern with a minimal color palette and some healthy white space.

I'll be sharing more of the labels this summer so keep an eye out!
