Scale doesn’t break because outcomes drop- it breaks because understanding never scaled with them.
Conversions go up and everyone relaxes… until they dip and the team panics because no one knows which inputs actually drive performance.
Another tell: decision velocity. If approvals multiply and feedback loops stretch, you’re not scaling a system- you’re scaling friction. And if it only works when you’re personally involved, it’s not ready yet. That’s not a leadership failure. It’s a systems gap.
Real scale requires restraint. Knowing when not to push is a skill.
