You know how some things seem obvious to yourself but not so much to other people?

Well, I recently received some feedback from someone I spoke with last month. Based on our conversation, she felt I was great at presentation development (researching, writing, etc.) but not so hot at visual design. Ouch.

As a result of that excellent observation (I'm not being sarcastic; it was incredibly useful!), I took some time this week to amp up my portfolio page to prove that yes I am, in fact, a visual designer, too!

In October 2020 I decided to participate in the Challenge, where every day I create a pen-and-ink drawing based on a prompt. I dropped out halfway through because everyone else's drawings seemed better than mine.

10/31/21: Risk. In 2012, I took up running. One of the songs on my workout playlist was Adele’s “He Won’t Go.” Now every time I read the word “risk” I hear her pronunciation in my head: “ree-isk.”

10/30/21: Slither. When threatened, a hognose snake will puff itself up and hiss. Then it thrashes around wildly, regurgitating its most recent meal and bleeding from the mouth. If the threat persists, it will then flop onto its back and play dead.

10/29/21: Patch. This is the Citizenship in the Community Merit Badge. Earning it is one of the requirements for the Eagle rank in the Boy Scouts of America. It’s an inexpensive little patch, yet it represents weeks of work.
